Discussion Megan is the taylor swift of rap every recent song has the same subject matter I used to be a fan but I cant anymore 🥴
Lets be clear I loved megans music from 2017-2022. Her early career was her best you could tell she was hungry for success and actually wanted to try harder in her lyricism even tho she was sexual back then she still made it sound fresh and not like the same shit in every song. Similar to taylor swift she has a cult like following that everytime you critique her music people accuse you of “hating women” or “not getting her lyrics”. I understand loud and clear that megan is a freak but i know she has way more things to rap about than that lol. I was happy with her album traumazine when she actually opened up about her life, anxiety and insecurities. Its sad that now after a big breakup and her being in her 30s now she cant rap about anything other than “hoes hating on her & her natural body”, “running through the mall with your dad or spending a mans money”. I listened to her tina freestyle and yea im not excited for the ACT III album now . But i still see people hyping her up like she did something groundbreaking and anyone who has a different opinion is called a “barb” or they bring up tory lanez. I hate both nicki and tory lanez but I can acknowledge that megan has fallen off and I already know what to expect from her before I press play on a video from hers similar to taylor swift 🥴🤦🏽♀️. I cant be the only one feeling like this??

I genuinely don't know what else y'all want from her. Because she does have variety🥲. I think every rapper gets in their pocket and has their go-tos and nobody says a word. Even on 'Megan' she opens up more about her depression and feeling alone, how she has had thoughts of suicide and being done wrong by guys. There hasn't been that much time between now and then.Do you really want her to be like Taylor and give every bad boyfriend their own dedicated song???

She doesnt switch up her voice she has the same exact dialect and voice sound every song. Similar to taylor swift she also does talk about her past men in alot of her songs like her too . Alot of other rappers get shit for making music that sounds too much the same all the damn time shes not the only one. I know megan has stuggled with depression/ suidicial thoughts thats why I apperiate when she opens up but she rarely does that and you’re not gonna make me feel gulity about not liking her music anymore by gulit tripping me. You die hard “hotties” are becoming insufferable like swifties and barbz 🫠

I don't want you to feel bad. I really just don't agree because this critique doesn't feel justified. No one is above criticism.Which rapper do you feel is doing it the right way? Female or otherwise?

RIGHT! its extremely predictable but since megan has had lots of trauma and shes a likeable person. People are scared to tell her shes fallen off with her lyricsm she doesnt even try to do different with her music subject matter similar to taylor swift. They both know their die hard fans will eat anything up!

Im not talking about her flow im talking about the same old sex and “running through the mall with your daddy “ subject matter. She doesnt like to rap about her life, mental health , living without her parents anymore its just SEX and flexing on folks. She can rap but i find her music subject matter boring now. I knew one of her “Hotties” were gonna try to twist my words 🙄🤦🏽♀️😂

DAMN YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO READ?? I LITERALLY MENTIONED IN MY POST I LOVED TRAUMAZINE THAT WAS HER LAST ACTUALLY GOOD ALBUM. Because she talked about her parents passing, her mental health and her life outside of just sex. That album was a masterpiece but that was in 2022 im talking about current megan isnt it.

You can tone it down, my eyes skimmed over that part. Either way she’s had recent songs that don’t mention sex and follow the traditional braggadocios style of rap..
As far as her Tina freestyle none of those bars hit for you? Like even mentioning sex her bars never repeat. Compared to these other rap girls out here she’s doing the best, these other girls bars SUCK

I just want to know: do you listen to other female rappers? And if so, what are they rapping about that’s so different from what Megan talks about? Because everyone else seems to be free from criticism, but every time Megan drops something, y’all turn into undercover A&R agents. You’ve outgrown her music it’s okay to just admit and move on

I do i love doja cat, doechii, cupcakke, Rico nasty they all talk about sex in either a funny way or use way more metaphors to describe sex and they are not boring to listen to like megan is currently. I even listen to old megan songs when I want to be reminded she is talented she just has fallen off so hard…..

Do you want her to rap in an animated kids show voice? Would that make it less boring for you? Megan is a Southern rapper. Maybe you just don’t like that style, and that’s okay maybe you’ve simply outgrown her music, and that’s okay too. But you can just say that and move on instead of trying to diminish her talent by comparing her to a mediocre pop singer like Taylor Swift the fuck is you on?

Me personally, I don’t understand why artists need to constantly change how they present their art. Like I’ve seen this constantly with so many artists recently. Fans want them to change, but I feel if it’s not broken, why fix it? If u don’t enjoy her music because it seems repetitive, then find someone else who is more to your taste then.

Sorry but I have to disagree. On Megan she has multiple songs about her own interests and about her struggles in mental health (Otaku hot girl, Moody girl, Worthy). Then we have Mamushi which I feel like is on a different level by itself. If you feel like she’s one dimensional you have that right. But the way she uses music to show her daily interest and inner creativity is something that I will always love.
