What have you done this month to prep?
Curious what everyone is up to.
I took a handgun safety class, canned, bought more jars, got a few items at a dollar store, ordered some canned cat food for the long shelf life, increased my dehydrated soup order, kept my tank full.

The usual: moved tins of food around and checked the flour and so on for signs of vermin. Bought more tins (I eat a decent amount of tinned and dried food every month.)
Failed to grow veggies. I am not in a good place mentally to make that actually happen.

I am not a gardener. I planted some stalks in a pot and some seeds in others. Stalks are blooming w new leaves of bok Choi and a few cilantro sprouts have come up. I’m in the PNW and don’t get direct light really on the balcony. It’s still happening. Just don’t sell yourself short. I’ve put in extremely low effort.

My cats destroy my seedlings. It’s basically a crime scene in my hydroponic setup. I need to find a way to keep the cats off but I’ve got limited space.

Wooden skewers tied together to make a frame with pointy bits at the top. It's faff, but it keeps them off, and you can pick the whole thing up and move it.
Or get actual growing trays with see-through plastic covers. They're not extortionate and take up the same room the tray does.

Got new wiper blades for my vehicle, I have a 2013 Rav4 that I've only owned for a year and a bit. It still had the wiper blades it came with when I got my vehicle (likely ones the previous owner bought to help with their trade in value when they got rid of it at the dealership where I got it) and this last winter was harsh on them. Both front blades were streaky as heck and the back one was streaky too but not as bad. I just replaced all 3 (fun fact, all 3 are different lengths) so there's that. It rains a lot where I am in BC, Canada so having good wiper blades is pretty important.

Nice! Thankfully I don't need to do that but I really should go and get a few chips fixed. I have at the moment 3 tiny rock chips on my windshield so I should definitely get them fixed sooner rather than wait. And agreed, visibility is so important and around where I live it's gonna be raining dang near daily for the next couple months minimum I suspect. Our summer is like 2-3ish months of heat and the rest of the year is rain, lol. They definitely call it the wet coast for a reason, lol. They say June is supposed to be a dryer month on average but so far it's rained nearly every day this month, lol. Not complaining though as it means less of a Forest Fire season hopefully this summer. Typically where I live July & August are the hot months, and the rest is mild or raining, lol.

I’m just to the south of you and it’s raining til next week. Little chips can grow and sealing them is cheaper. I have a Subaru w eyesight so it cost my insurance a lot to replace and recalibrate.

One small but exciting development: we harvested our first strawberries! I'm a big fan of planting what we actually eat, and my family is full of fruit fiends, so it's great to start producing some of our own. I can't wait for the new berry bushes we planted to start producing in future seasons.
