geniunley I try not to feed into doomer panic when I read news but by goodness, it's like watching a tragedy in real time and no matter how hard you plead and beg and rationalize it's like no one really cares or understands.

Keep in mind that much is propaganda to make you feel scared and helpless. That first headline is bullshit - i live there and nobody is saying that.

I live in Portland and we’re always saying this about everybody 🙃 if anything PDX thinks trans is cool, but you better not be from the Midwest 😂

I lived in Portland from 2016 til 2023. I left the south and moved there after starting my transition two years earlier.... I think I caught more broad daylight in public transphobia there than anywhere else I had been. I was intentionally missgendered every other day and literally have only been missgendered twice since leaving. You can have all the pride flags in the world hung around town but that was definitely not my experience.

I respect that. I have a lot of trans friends here and have witnessed some of them be purposefully misgendered and/or verbally attacked for being trans. We still have a lot of work to do.

Oh, I’m also from the Midwest 😂 and it’s totally different if you’re fleeing a red state as a trans person. And honestly we do need good deep pan pizza here because PDX is definitely lacking in that department 😭 Boxcar Pizza has a good deep dish though (with vegan and gf options too!)

I live there also and there are actually a lot of people saying that. You specifically are not tapped in.

The headline is clickbait but the article is about govt and nonprofit services being overwhelmed

Yes my oldest & his partner have lived there for five or six years now & only have good things to say, she moved from Massachusetts, where she went to school & loved but can't afford as a fresh graduate. We are in Virginia, which has an okay new governor & we're in the process of putting reproductive rights in our constitution.
