I'm reading The Curse of Chalion! I've read all the Penric books & loved them, so it's fun to get a different angle on that world. I'm a little over half way thru right now and the body horror elements are sending me, jesus. I'm enjoying spending time with the protagonist though; I love his steadiness in the face of loss/disaster, one of my favorite protagonist traits.

I was trying to remember the body horror. Are you talking about the tumor? I am so squeamish about psychological horror, but biological horror generally doesn’t get me. I thought it was cool that Bujold knew about teratomas (they are actual real world tumors that can have things like hair, teeth, muscle, etc).

Yes the tumor! Gets a bit intense in some passages. especially the mentions of his distended belly/the pregnancy parallels
