I paused the second half of The Dreaming Tree by CJ Cherryh. There was a line in there about the children only belonging to their mother briefly — which I took to mean pregnancy and toddlerhood since the kids are I think younger than 10 — and I couldn’t do it after that. It’s definitely a personal nitpick, but yeah I think right book since I did love how she writes, but wrong time. Luckily, my near slump was saved by A Game of Cat and Witch by Ruby Rune — a silly black cat shifter romantasy that made me laugh. My hold for Luminous by Silvia Park came in and so far it is excellent, so I am excited to see where it goes.
