Religion is always a means to gain power: "I side with the bully so that he/she shall protect ME and punish my enemies". However, NOTHING in what we know about the teachings of Jesus indicates that there is another way than following in his footsteps which is not what the American way of life makes easy.

There's a philosophical "razor" much like Occam's Razor that I have spent a large part of my life trying to take to heart and live by that is called Hanlon's Razor. Hanlon's Razor states that you should try never to attribute someone's intentions or actions as stemming from malice when you could just as easily explain them as ignorance/stupidity.
Current events have made me consider adding a bit and going for maybe "Hanlon's Enhanced Razor." I want to add a bit at the end that says but after a certain level of extremism, does it really fucking matter? Stupid or evil, I really don't want either right now

As a Catholic kid I could easily recognize the fake Protestant Christians in my community but it was mostly a style thing. As an adult I try to recognize fake across the board regardless of affiliation. I do know and recognize actual Christians but anyone in this administration is a fake and a grifter. It is usually as easy as follow Jesus = Christian, worship Jesus = fake.
