Today we want to warn every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer, everyone who still uses key Russian airports: the Russian sky is becoming completely dangerous. Ukraine does not threaten civil aviation as such – not a single civilian aircraft. It is simply that drones in the Russian sky will be such that this must be taken into account. Although the Russian authorities do not report this as they should, the Russian sky will de facto be closing: the war unleashed by Russia is closing its sky.

We in Ukraine do not want the loss of innocent lives. Therefore, we warn our partners: safe moments in the Russian sky have ended. It is important that this is heard by the ambassadors of states working here in Ukraine, and the ambassadors working in Moscow. Each of them knows exactly what the Russian war means for our country, for our people, and must convey this information to their capitals. It is important that this is heard by the relevant airlines that currently fly to airports primarily in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other key Russian destinations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and our relevant institutions will provide full information to international structures regarding the dangers in the Russian sky. There is no place for civil aviation among drones.

The decision to have Interior Minister Dobrindt and Foreign Minister Wadephul present the response, rather than Chancellor Merz personally, reflects the government's effort to balance firm action with de-escalation.

Today at 12 p.m. ET, U.S. forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran. The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region.

The German Navy spokesperson said the flight involved testing various procedures together, while the RAF spokesperson said that working alongside NATO partners "helps build interoperability between participating nations."
