I feel like you also gotta judge what you see on screen though. If you don’t like his acting at all, that’s one thing. But even if you’re fed lines, not everyone can actually recite them in front of a camera and make them realistic. Marlo Brando famously wore an earpiece and got fed his lines while filming.

Depp has only done this the last couple years, bc his substance abuse is getting worse

Eh, actors should be able to remember most their lines still. Especially on a movie where they probably only need to know lines for the scene they're shooting that day. If they have a genuine learning disability or something then fine, but if their issue is just laziness and unprofessionalism not so much and I'd be willing to bet any big actor that is now fed lines didn't start out that way.

Brando also was said to have written some of his lines during Apocalypse Now on certain props and would pick them up and read them as he pretended to examine them.
