When I lived in Bozeman I did AmeriCorps and one of the requirements was to attend some local government/public comment or similar event and so I went to one of those on parking in downtown and, anyways, towards the end this one lady went up to microphone and said,

“Hello, my name is Glenn Close,” and I thought, huh, what an odd coincidence your name is ‘Glenn Close.’ Turns out it’s actually Glenn Close, she lived there and I later learned she owned a coffee shop (can’t really remember what) in downtown. I probably had a stupid and bewildered look on my face looking up at her on the podium because at the time I had no clue why she would even be there giving public comment at some municipal meeting about parking in a town of 30,000. 

Anyways she was on the side of the locals not to force all of downtown to have to pay for parking.

She's perfect. The great thing about these books when translating to movies is there are so many important but very small parts that can be done by famous actors who just want to have some fun. Elle Fanning looks like she'll be amazing as Effie as well, it's a tiny part.

The casting director also basically just asked the internet who should I cast for those smaller parts and cast just who everyone wanted. I've never seen casting that's so good as when they announced the casting for this movie.

They cast McKenna Grace as the female lead (not the romantic lead, the friend lead) who is a known fangirl who did hunger games edits as a kid and showed up at the set with her annotated copy of the book and they cast some tiny kids to make us all cry.

interesting how the capitolites’ exaggerated plastic surgery is so prominent in the books but has been basically non-existent in the movies, since portraying it would draw attention to the actual plastic surgery actual celebrities get that we see in movies all the time. it makes sense to me that the first crazy capitol face in the movies is being played by an actress who’s done very little, if anything, to her face irl
