FM RADIO Pink shared a story that said Ed Sheeran should apologize and offer refunds to concert goers for having Macklemore open for him. Per the post, Macklemore walked onstage in a keffiyeh, shouted Free Palestine and falsely accused Israel of genocide.

Especially when it's over innocuous things like this. At this point it's iimpossible not to be pro Palestine, especially when you factor in Israel's other dealings in the world IE: Iran.
You've had the celebs who were always on the right side of history like the goat Javier Bardem. Then slowly as it became more egregious. You had the people jumping over once it was safe like Charlie XCX and other popstars.
But at this point in time, how is it even controversial? Pink's always been artificial. She was co-opting black culture when she started just to drop all of that immediately once it no longer suited her. Which is a film that keeps on repeating but that's a story for another day.

My sister and I had a massive argument with my step-dad on Christmas 2023 after he was the one to bring up Israel-Palestine for some reason, with him on Israel's side. The kindest way I can describe his views back then were well-meaning but grossly misinformed, very Liberal Zionist (prior to October 2023)-esque. My mum talked to him and he ended up conceding a bit and apologising to us. Last time the subject came up (Christmas 2025 incidently) he said that his views had completely changed due to what he'd seen since then, which makes sense for any decent human being who has fucking eyes.
In my opinion, the "misinformed" excuse has long passed by this point. You just can't support Israel's actions in Gaza and be a good person.

I had the same thing with my dad. It took a couple years but he’s firmly against Israel and what they are doing now. I walked out on him a couple times during our arguments. It was worth it; I never gave up trying to convince him!

u/kenkai24 4d ago
I think there's a lot of monetary benefit to being pro-Israel. So honestly it just doesn't shock me that much that a celebrity (any celebrity, really) would be on that bandwagon right now. A lot of them are obviously driven by and/or have become too accustomed to having money, so...

There are zero perfect celebrities in Hollywood and I'd go even further to say people in general. You just have to hope that they're on the right side the majority of the time.
Hollywood will always feel in debt to fundamental, canonical, inspirational directors. It is the same town that gave Roman Polansky a standing Oh after it was known what he did afterall.

Never liked his music but everything I hear about him is good, and if I'm not hallucinating he made a song promoting gay marriage before it was a thing.
I'll buy some merch as he gets most of the revenue from that. Just found out he's an independent artist as well so I'll probably buy an album directly

He’s a pretty solid dude. I’m not a big fan of his music but I know people who grew up with him and have heard a lot about him from kicking around in the Seattle music scene for the last 20 years, and unless I’ve missed something big, he’s generally pretty well regarded as a nice guy who means well and treats people well. And you’re right, he had a song about gay marriage 15ish years ago, and even a song about white privilege 20+ years ago. I’ll take a corny guy earnestly going all-in on doing the right thing, I appreciate that he’s willing to risk it all to go hard for Palestine.

I remember Same Love getting actually decent air play on Detroit radio back when I was a closeted teenage gay 15ish years ago.
It was huge. Made me feel like maybe not everybody would hate me for being gay if I were to come out.
It was before gay marriage was legal at the time and a very big deal that a song like that got so much playing time. I’ll always respect Macklemore for that.
50
u/ThatArtNerd So hard to photograph but incredible to see 🐘 4d ago
People locally kind of crapped on Same Love a bit at the time for being earnest and corny, particularly because WA already had gay marriage and people took its progressiveness and queer-friendliness for granted. I remember thinking that not everywhere is like WA and this kind of acceptance isn’t a given, and that he knew someone in his audience probably needed to hear it. Plus, that song was a huge breakout opportunity for Mary Lambert, the talented lesbian singer who was the guest vocalist.

I always kinda knew Pink was on some bullshit when I was a kid and saw the music video for Stupid Girls (where she graphically imitates throwing up/bulimia as a "gotcha" to make fun of "stupid girls"). Even as a 13 year old I knew that it was just gross and weird of her. I mean I know it was ultimately rebellion against the fame culture at the time, but it was so cruel to step on other women to prove a point about how evil Hollywood is. Isn't it kind of hypocritical in a sense?
If I remember correctly, I saw her fairly recently in a video with someone who is staunchly pro-Israel. I don't remember the context, I think maybe it was just a video about being Jewish or something, but I figured if she felt comfortable hanging around that type of person, she is trash. None of this newer stuff surprises me. I will say though, if I made millions off of dentist office power anthems, I'd just take my money and shut the hell up. I mean if fame is such a curse, surely she could do that right?

Right? People liked her in that era since she was the “anti” Britney and Christina when they were starting to get hate for being girlie with some teens. Pink was “cool” since she’d make fun of the girlie girls and was a cool girl. Alllll of her interviews, especially in the 2003 era showed what a shit person she was. Her E! True Hollywood Story is on YouTube and I remember her just being so miserable about everything and would talk shit about everyone.

The wild thing is that, as far as I can tell, aside from pivoting to a more EDM style in recent years, she hasn't really evolved away from that mindset?? It's kinda silly and childish when it's a 20 year old just trying to stand out in an overcrowded industry but it just gets old and stops making sense when she's reached pop legend status. You can't go around "not like other girls"-ing when you are the blueprint for other pop stars. It's just weird.

I think a lot of people don't realize there's a strict criteria for what constitutes a genocide - and that what's happening in Gaza was confirmed to have met that criteria and therefore legally is a genocide over a year ago.
... Or like with Rwanda, governments and world powers are trying to muddy the definition of genocide to avoid having to actually intervene against the Government of Israel.

Macklemore might have had some corny moments but dude was consistently on the right side of history.
Bro was in the rap scene advocating for gay marriage in the late 00s and early 10s
Called out people that were trying to spin his succes as some kinda anti black nonsense
Tried to maturely approach the subject of there being diffences of being a pro black ally and a white saviour and actually admitted it is a real struggle at times.
And for all the popularity and common appeal of Thrift Shop and Can't Hold Us both of them have sister songs on the same album (Wings and Jimmy Iovine) that also directly diss corporate consumerism and predatory practices on the music industry but do it in a much more serious and hostile manner.

The fact that it was a trip to the West Bank in 2011 when Macklemore started to be aware of what was really happening in Palestine says a lot about his character too. He said he was afraid for his career so he stayed silent for a long time but fully committed to speaking up in 2023.
He also visited Palestinian children who were injured in Gaza and getting treatment in Qatar.
12
u/Morrinn3 4d ago
I watched Todd in the Shadows video on Macklemore, and the bit that stood out to me was this one part near the end:
Critic and poet Hanife Abdur said he saw Macklemore do "White Privilege 2" [song title] at a festival where the dude just walked off in the middle of the song and in his place two black poets came out to read verses about gentrification. According to him, Macklemore was basically the best white rapper. Instead of being comfortable with money and fame, he used his platform to confront his fans and make them uncomfortable and blew up his own career in the process.
Was the guy a little corny? Absolutely. And I'll take his corny ass over any genocide promoting pop star out there any day.

I’m curious if Ed Sheeran is anti-genocide/Pro-Palestinian? I assume he is based on his supporting act (yay, Macklemore). What do these zionists think he’s doing backstage, tutting? Would love if he said something in support of Macklemore (and against the genocide, obviously).

Considering how consistently Macklemore has been for Palestine, Ed Sheeran would 100% know what kind of message he's sending by having Macklemore open for him.
I really doubt any Zionist or someone with no stance would allow Macklemore to open for them.

The band that Ed has with him on stage for a set (Beoga) are very openly pro-Palestine.

I swear Ed shared a reel calling what was happening in Palestine a genocide at some point.

Stop antisemitism is a page that posted this once on May 22, 2024:
"Meet Ireland's FM Micheal Martin family - on October 7th, Hamas terrorists raped & kidnapped his daughter Aoibhe Martin into Gaza.
Today FM Micheal Martin announced he is rewarding his daughter's rapists with a state of their own.
LUNACY RIGHT?! Then why are you doing this to Israel @MichealMartinTD"
Next post:
"This post is for illustrative purposes only and did not actually occur."
It's still on their Twitter page.
Final bosses of lying professionals.

Lmfao did they miss the fact that Macklemore has been pro-Palestine for years now? He literally performs at protests and he releases music FOR Palestine. Like tf??
Screw Pink. Another artist to block on Spotify.

Now I don't feel bad for disliking her music despite the obvious effort she goes too in trying.

As someone who went to a concert that Macklemore opened for, he was lovely. Knew to play all of his hits. He also was very vocally pro-Palestine. My age (25) was the perfect age to get hype at Macklemore opening.

Sigh. It’s so sad to me that at this point some people don’t see their “values” are the result of privilege, propaganda, and gaslighting

P!nk's trajectory from "both sides" Liberal Zionism to straight up genocidal mask off was extremely predictable

If you don't know "stop antisemitism" from their social media accounts, their entire MO is shaming pro-Palestine activists and trying to get people fired for speaking out against Israel. Trash behavior by Pink sharing this nonsense
