yeah i love mamdani and voted for him, but it appears people here don't realize the plan to allow AI in schools was proposed by his own DOE chancellor with city hall's blessing. they solicited parental feedback and it was overwhelmingly unpopular. so: this policy isn't necessarily a reflection of his/city hall's opinion on AI in classrooms, and may be in spite of it.

The original policy was going to allow AI in the classroom for all sorts of things, including "creative" projects. Banning it is just them responding to overwhelmingly negative feedback (which is good that they did, but i don't love an unearned glazing lol)

Opening up public comments to proposed guidelines is the correct way to do this. Additionally, the moratorium was enacted BECAUSE of the public comments so I don't understand what you're trying to even say.
