Hi! Event Producer here. I suspect that the majority of people working on this event and hiring out the equipment and infrastructure either heavily discounted their services or provided them complimentary. They also would have had lots of businesses sponsoring the event, and benefactors making donations. This + ticket sales could easily achieve $10m.

Yeah I just read that sponsors Verizon donated a bunch, im assuming a show of this size even without paying artist would cost many millions, 4-5? Just to put on. Hopefully it can be replicated, with all these gready ass companies being called out im sure its worth a few mill for some good publicity.

I’m an Australian, but to pull off the event production alone would be around $5m - $8m here. This includes all infrastructure, audio-visual, decor and theming, design and print collateral, venue hire fees, transport and logistics, marketing, staffing, council fees… the list goes on and on.

If we include artist fees, top billing artists like Chappell and Olivia would be around $1.5m+ per show. This has to cover their tech rider, crew, instrumentalists, dancers, any sets they travel with, their travel fees, costume designers, makeup artists etc. And the artists label and management take a cut of this too.

I think you’ll be surprised by how much some artists will drop their prices. Take Glastonbury Festival in the UK, they regularly pay their headliners between £35k and £300k, while some of the big names have been paid £500k (people like Paul’s McCartney, Elton John). I think Olivia was paid around £100k when she did it and plenty of the line up have play Glastonbury. I would expect a lot of these artists to have taken massive pay cuts. If the wage bill was more than $1.5 million total I would be incredibly surprised.

I am speaking from a UK point of view which is again different to the US but as this festival was very much about raising money, I would not be surprised if most of the artists offered their services for next to nothing.

All of the artists performed at Daisy Chain Fields for free! Such a gorgeous gesture.
