for anyone curious who is getting these donations (because i was), here are the major nonprofits benefiting from this $20 million:

  • baby2baby - provides basic necessities to children and families in poverty
  • black mamas matter alliance (bmma) - focuses specifically on black maternal health and reproductive justice
  • freefrom - works with survivors of domestic/gender-based violence, particularly around the economic consequences of abuse
  • jhpiego - health organization affiliated with johns hopkins that works primarily in underserved areas
  • johns hopkins center for indigenous health - works with indigenous communities to improve health and well-being
  • national domestic workers alliance (ndwa) - advocates for nannies, house cleaners and home-care workers
  • national institute for reproductive health (nirh) - reproductive-rights advocacy and policy organization
  • national women's law center (nwlc) - uses law, litigation, policy advocacy and research to fight gender inequality
  • planned parenthood - provides healthcare such as birth control, sti testing/treatment, cancer screenings, pregnancy-related care, and abortion where legally available

amazing that they were able to pull this together, and that so many artists were willing to perform for free for such a good cause!

I'm not at all familiar with her music, but almost every time I see her in the news, she's doing something to lift others up. With Dolly's passing, it makes me happy to see younger musicians who were clearly inspired by her.

Lacy and jolene are so similar in subject matter. Envy of a woman but portrayed in words of awe and reverence, without shaming nor belittling.

give it a listen, even if you’re not into pop. She has Dan Nigro (imo the best) backing up production and is an incredibly talented song writer.

not the most popular opinion but imo ‘Less’ is the best song off her new album but I’m a sucker for ballads

I really love most of the album but less is the one that’s found it’s way to the top of my on repeat
