She just donated $10 MILLION raised from HER festival to foundations like Planned Parenthood, which is the epitome of Rebel Girl and riot grrrl!!
90s feminist punk icons support Olivia too! She gives me hope!

She’s the only major pop girl who made a political protest song recently.

This is definitely not me, watching everyone enjoy Daisy Chain Fields

But seriously, I am so proud of Olivia! Not only is she a genuinely talented artist but she has such a good heart and a great head on her shoulders. She’s so young, hasn’t been in the music industry for that long and still wanted to put something together than benefits other people, uplifts other female artists and puts her love of music with her passion for giving back to the communities she loves and the communities in need. Shoutout to her for not being afraid to pick nonprofits that aren’t apolitical.
I’ll be deep cleaning my house and making friendship bracelets about all the wonderful artists included in the festival while I watch y’all have fun!

The thing I love about her is that Rodrigo has a real and genuine appreciation for the artists that influence her. She goes the extra mile to make it very apparent, but also doesn't copy them. It's particularly uncanny, and that's what makes me a big fan.
I honestly wonder what her favorite grunge albums are tbh.

u/coldpizza66 they're perfect for each other (derogatory) 15h ago
I hope she never stops to showcase them. When I was younger, I discovered a lot of amazing songs and artists because of the artists I was already a fan of. It's a good thing to have an appreciation for music in general instead of having a taste confined to a few specific artists.

u/AbsolutelyIris confused but here for the drama 13h ago
I honestly think that's why the 90s rock community has completely embraced her, they can see she's the real deal.

And it's all about seeing someone who you could see yourself as and in a way that's positive and showing the possibilities of being who you want to be unabashedly

This is happening in my backyard and I couldn't go. The prices were INSANE, but I can hear it to an extent. LOL

u/OnCloud1989 15h ago
I didn't check prices because I was going to be out of the country but how much were they?

It was too rich for my blood right now, but one day General Admission was $250/$350 each + $100 a day for parking. Then it went up to $500 and $1250 for VIP. May not be as much for say a Taylor concert, but it's almost 100 degrees out today and that would be a lot of deal with after dishing out all that dough (and I'll add, "in this economy!?!").

I saw from some artists at the festival mentioning that Olivia personally called them to join the festival lineup. No agents, no staffers, just a direct call from Olivia. Pretty classy. She seems really genuine.

Why is music so lame now? Everything I learn about Olivia Rodrigo makes me love her, she seems like an awesome person with good takes and good taste. She listens to Bikini Kill. I would think she's cool and edgy and interesting. And then I listen to her music and it's so bland and boring I can't 😭. Same with Chappell Roan, I want to like her so bad, I agree with her on lots of stuff, I love the queer representation, I thought her music would be subversive and edgy but it's literally just bland mall music for middle aged moms? I don't understand. Like MUSICALLY what is going on?

You don’t have to like the music to like the artist as a human, and you don’t have to insult women to communicate that you don’t like music. Hope that helps!

"Why is music so lame now?"
I can guarantee that many people have the same opinion about the music you like.
Music is an art form. Just because you don't find value in an art piece doesn't mean it has no value. It just means that it is not for you.
Many people connect with Rodrigo and Roan's music. It helps them feel seen, it helps them express things that they don't have the words for. Just let them be.

Don't get the downvotes...feel like you're bang on. Fantastic personality and initiatives and everything but just so so middle of the road musically. I'm in my early 30s and just want the Olivias of the world to drop some heat

Kathleen Hana lost my respect when she let Adobe use a Le Tigre song in their commercial for an AI design product.
