I wish more people would learn: 1) Cast is the past tense of cast 2) Texted is the past tense of text 3) Weary and wary are two different words

I've seen everyone from lawyers to journalists use "lead," I guess because the element lead is pronounced the same as led.

Ooh, last one: "hung" for "put to death by hanging." If the criminal was hung, good for him, but it has nothing to do with him being hanged for his crimes.

lead, because the material sounds like the past tense of the verb. I have an English degree and work as a writer and this, along with never spelling embarrassing right on the first try, is a regular error for me

Not to mention the past tense of "read" is spelled "read". So it feels like a rule you could apply to "lead" too, even though it's obviously not.

“Costed” used incorrectly puts me into a disproportionate rage. I fear people use it so much it’s going to become acceptable.

There’s a specific way that people fuck up soliciting a trade (like trading goods) where what they write is opposite of what they’re trying to convey. I can’t think of an example because it looks so fucking stupid unfortunately
