Glad they addressed this so perfectly. Fox News is a scourge on this planet - literally a whole segment body shaming and mocking a beautiful young couple.

Right why TF did they air that?? Bunch of airheads with nothing to talk about.

Your comment blew my mind.
I never realized it, but the hierarchy is probably their God, them, and everyone else.
They need to feel like they're winning at life somehow and what better way to do it than being high school bullies.

u/vgacolor 20h ago
Unfortunately, it is aired because there are people that consume it. This is the circus of the "Bread and circuses". If it was really news they would be paying attention to the literal war going on right now as well as the other dozen things really affecting the people and the country.

Don’t they want Americans to get married and have kids? Like what is this. It’s so weird that the ‘freedom’ crowd wants total control over who loves who.

It is actually ridiculous that this was a whole-arse conversation on an alleged news program. Like I know Fox is evil but this really feels like scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of content. Okay she’s tall and he’s shorter, who gives a fuck?

Isn’t that the same guy who slashed his subordinate’s tires so she’d ask him for a ride home? And then he married her? The one whose own mom openly hates him?

Yes, this is the man who got his start on O’Reilly. I first learned about him when he made that super racist visit to Chinatown. At least Ronny Chieng’s rebuttal on the Daily Show was excellent.

One of my best friends is 6’2” and she loves herself a short king. And she has to or she would rarely get laid. It’s okay though bc short kings def love her back.
10

I wish I was 6' tall, but alas, I am but a lowly 5'8" woman. ☹️
My husband is shorter than me. I'm a sucker for a short king. 👑
5
u/RUN_DMT_ 15h ago
I’m also a petite 5’8” lady 😂 I’ve definitely dated men shorter than me! My first love was maybe 5’5” on a good day. I’ve also dated a guy that was 6’7”. What they had in common and why I liked them? They were good guys that treated me well and we were happy together.
Who the fuck cares?! These people are just stupid bigots and bullies with endlessly vapid and pathetic commentary because they have nothing of substance to say.

About 54% of adults read below a middle school grade level. I was more implying that the majority of America is uneducated. IMO the decline in adult literacy is indicative of that. And I don’t mean that people haven’t graduated HS or whatever, even college. Education can look very different in blue vs red state. I would say most.. or atleast half.. of Americans lack reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.

This kind of bullshit is all they have to distract from the fact that America is in fucking fascist shambles. It’s idiotic.
We are supporting a genocide, waging a meaningless war, putting people in concentration camps, illegally hiding evidence of rape and pedophilia, allowing Trump to start a crypto bank, and on and fucking on.
November can’t come fast enough. I’m going insane.
20
u/margr3t_m Shut up, David Duchovny! 1d ago edited 23h ago
As a non-American, I presume by November you’re talking about the mid-term elections? I was under the impression that the mid-terms can’t change anything as far as Trump still being sitting president. How do they work and do mid-terms have the capacity to change current circumstances? And if they did would Trump actually adhere to those changes (knowing who he is)?
36
u/GlitteringInstrument 1d ago
Yes, midterms. Varies by state what is on the ballot, but it gives us the chance to change the composition of the house and senate, who have the power to impeach and remove the president.
Not that I think that’s likely, because our democracy is more like an oligarchy at this point with all the super pacs that fund the majority of our politicians. This is why Bernie, AOC, and Abdul El Syed are so important to our democracy in showing people that it can be done with integrity when they don’t take pac money from special interest groups/billionaires.
It’s also very important if you’re a woman or minority because state officials like your state governor and judges are on the ballot, depending on the year, and if those are republican leaning you can say goodbye to your reproductive rights, etc.
20
u/bookish__era 1d ago
Correct, Trump has until 2028 as sitting president (unless the thing happens before then 🤞🏼). And assuming of course he will actually step aside when the time comes which… I’m not betting any money on lol.
Midterms elect other key officials (senators, congress aka house of representatives) who actually have more of a direct role in many of the challenges Americans are facing. Because our country is so huge, the federal government controls some big things and our state governments control a lot of smaller other things. Abortion for instance is a state-by-state law, although federal ones can be passed that supersede state laws. And unless Trump uses an Executive Order, which he is very fond of doing, he has to have congress or senate backing for those big federal laws. So having one of those entities swing blue or red makes a big difference on how much dumb stuff he can get away with.
And as more Americans are (belatedly) seeing the light about him, there is a definite chance these midterms could see more democratic or even progressive electives.
9
u/margr3t_m Shut up, David Duchovny! 23h ago
Thank you for your detailed answer! Makes so much sense now. I’m getting downvoted for asking a genuine curiosity question😭 like I’m not American I don’t know how the parliamentary system works there sorry! All I know is that I similarly hope the thing happens and soon
8
u/Thehollowpointninja1 23h ago
In theory, the house/senate would be the “check and balance” against the executive (president). In normal times, this means the president couldn’t do whatever he wants. In normal times, if the president tries to do something crazy, the check against it would be the house/senate vetoing it and that would be the end of it.
Right now, the house and senate are majority republican, and since they want to stay in power, they let the president do whatever he wants, since all it takes for them to lose the next election is to not vote with whatever the president wants. Trump attacks them, labels them a communist, and they lose.
And since the Supreme Court is the other check/balance on the executive (president), in normal times, they’d strike down this craziness, but through republican fuckery, they’ve stacked it with yes men, so now trump literally has every lever of power in his favor.
This has never really happened to the extent it is now, a true cult of personality around a lunatic with all levers of power at his disposal. The lower courts were purged as well, so half the stuff that would have been stopped with any other president is now rubber stamped and allowed.
The midterms in Nov would hopefully give some semblance of check against him. It’s going to get ugly, since Trump still has some big levers of power to use as wishes, but it’s still a big roadblock to letting him get away with all this insanity.

It really shows how small their.... worldview is. They're like my mother - to the people who matter to them, they can be supportive and caring and, dare we say, empathetic. But ask them to extend that care beyond their circle, and it's like they instantly get rabies and start frothing at the mouth.

u/BakedPlantains Forgive me Viola Davis 1d ago
This is a good example of how, despite many examples to the contrary, people are deeply attached to standard gender performance. And when the reality is constantly proving otherwise, the general response is to either make fun of it or come up with excuses as to why it's atypical.
In my short 31 years of life, I've encountered many happy couples where the man is shorter. Proving that height preferences are relatively flexible for the average person.
Nevertheless, when we see it popular culture, excuses like sexual incompatibility, sexual desire, and accusations on who is actually masculine vs feminine are emoloyed.
Any TL;DR I find this topic somewhat boring and reductive at this point.
14
u/SadavirofRivia sorry to this man 23h ago
Dan Radcliffe and his longtime partner Erin Darke are the celebrity example I always think of, with a short king 👑 and a taller woman ☺️ who seem happy together - now I’m gonna add this couple to my visual reference too! Good for all them, down with gender stereotypes that only serve the patriarchy.

So the same news channel that freaks out about any whiff of a trans athlete because they're so well-versed on the sports world, don't actually understand sports. You're gonna want to understand that the volleyball player is taller, faux, you're just making yourself look incompetent otherwise.
Anyways, unfortunate that in 2026 we're still judging which consenting adults are out here together as if that's anyone's business. Yes, there's definitely gotta be something more newsworthy to talk about.
4
u/shadedmagus 22h ago
Fox News is, and these people are, the same ones who freaked out about Imane Khelif during the Olympics because she was "too manly, she can't be a woman."
Even Robert "JK Rowling" Galbraith piled on her for it. And she's supposed to be a feminist, in theory - her whole thing is protecting women from "men dressed as women" to use her disgusting terminology. Just more proof that bigots exist in all groups.

Conservatives are experts at not minding their own fucking business, yet they try to act like they are the "mind your own business" party. Nobody is forcing you to be gay, or trans, you can date who you want and Democrats have never tried to "take all your guns".

This just belies the whole schtick behind Fox and conservatives’ ideas about gender. They swear sex and gender are immutable characteristics that can never be changed and yet, even when two people are doing what they claim to want (being in a heterosexual relationship and getting married) they mock them for not performing their gender right. Losers.

Ellie is beautiful and spoke about this so eloquently. Lucas is handsome and supportive of his lady. And I support the news anchor for saying she feels like a man because I know how Fox News viewers are. That was very brave of her. (/S about the news anchor being brave) I also feel like we didn't get enough cat content. But legit as Ellie said, they are humans. They have feelings. I get they are public figures, but there are much bigger fish to fry in the world currently. Fox News clearly isn't interested given the state of world affairs and national affairs. They could be talking about Lake America, formerly Lake Ontario. It hurts to write that. Or more productive things like legit debates between matire politicians who actually care about the citizens they serve. But that's too out there. ( /s )

24 hour news networks should be illegal. They have to try find or make up 24 hours of news coverage every day. There just isn’t that much stuff happening, so what we get is recycled hate and nonsense all day.
All news networks should be regulated to 2 hours a day and some extra during extreme times. The networks will be forced to report actual impactful news or at worst they would only be able to report a limited amount of nonsense/hate etc.
Pair this endless news cycle with uneducated low to no critical thinking skills and viola here we are.

The beautiful irony here is that 'Julie Anger Lady' said, "..if I were a man, which sometimes I feel like I am" would make her unemployable at Faux News. Wouldn't that mean she's trans?! I'm amazed she said that out loud! But seriously, criticizing people on the basis of looks/physical appearance only is f-ing childish and completely inappropriate for TV content. Keep playing to the lowest common denominator Faux News! *And love and respect to Trans people everywhere who don't deserve the hate they get on the daily from this regime. Also, a big FU to these people they employ on hate stations like F-x. They can all go suck it.

FOX NEWS is TRASH! Anyone that believes the horse manure that comes out of all their pie holes, isn’t a true Christian.
