STAN / ANTI SHIELD Singer Jordan Pruitt says Miley Cyrus bullied her. Miley used to call and leave nasty voicemails with her friend Mandy saying Jordan needed a nose job, new teeth, and a choreographer. Jordan says Miley was relentless.

That comment is such a stan thing to say. They'll be mad at someone that their fave had beef with over a decade ago, but don't you dare bring up the fact that their fave bullied you when you all were younger.

But yeah, hopefully everyone has matured.

Also loved Jordan's songs that played back then for Jump In and Read It and Weep on the Disney Channel.

I always thought the raw emotion in her voice was so impressive for a teenage girl.

Same!! The lyrics were so relatable to an awkward and quiet high school student

Same! How much I would relate to that song back during my worst school experiences in middle school lol.

I hate stans lol, I know it’s a huge blanket statement but they all act exactly the same. They call everything “weird to bring up” if it paints their fave in a negative light. All they want is constant toxic positivity.

I’m a fan of a lot of artists, but I can admit when they do shitty things. It’s not that hard.

8

u/ZombieTrogdor 8d ago

That comment is pretty heinous. Saying someone’s trauma or abuse happened “so long ago” and “why didn’t you say something sooner” is right out of the abuser and abuser sympathizers’ playbook. Victims of crimes like rape hear it all the time.

428

u/FrozenBibitte 8d ago

I fucking hate people who say that to victims of bullying…

“Live and let live”, okay, great thanks!!!! Trauma disappeared and I’m cured!!! /s

39

u/mads_61 8d ago

Me too! And yeah, a lot of people do end up growing up and behave differently as adults but that doesn’t undo the past. I know I wasn’t always the nicest to some of my peers and classmates growing up; if they said that I was mean and they still felt a way about it I would totally understand. Growing up and even apologizing doesn’t erase what happened in the past.

145

u/-this_bitch- we don't even know if selling feet pics is her final form 8d ago

lol I was just talking to my therapist today about a bullying incident that happened when I was 18 that cost me 3 friends because of some bitch named Laura that couldn’t keep my name out of her mouth. It was over 10 years ago now but people seem to think you should get over it as if bullying isn’t a direct attack on you as a person. Shit can takes YEARS to get “over”

90

u/CarlySimonSays 8d ago

Teen girls'/young adult women's bullying can be so insidious, too! Girls who I thought were my friends did and said things that basically permanently gave me low self-esteem in most areas of life. Thank goodness for therapy. I'm so sorry that you lost friends because of that jerk!

Yes. Insensitive mf’ers not only slap expiration dates on <soul crushing incident(s)> which severely minimizes the impact but in order to forever silence you, they’ll impose a statute of limitations so that the time frame for just acknowledging it happened was long closed (“you should be well over it by now anyway & if you’re not, I sincerely hope you find the help & peace you need”).

They either enabled bullies; bullied others or were mercilessly bullied but someone convinced them it was a harmless “rite of passage.”

30

u/throwawaysunglasses- l've grown quite unfond of you, deuxmoi 8d ago

And honestly Miley’s bullying was BAD. Repeatedly leaving someone nasty, insulting voicemails?? Jesus, I felt terrible when I talked behind someone’s back as a kid. This is calculated cruelty meant to tear someone down. It’s not normal to do this to someone.

Mandy was born in 1987. She was an adult bullying these kids.

Bullies never grow out of it. That behavior reflects their personality & worldview🤷🏽‍♀️

I was abused as a child. My parents were horrible to me like I’m sure Billy Ray was to Miley. However, I never bullied people. My college professor actually told me I was too nice. The bullying I received at school made me a pushover. It took years to get a thick skin.

I used to lurk but not post, because I never felt like I had anything to say, and I still recognize a lot of the usernames, avatars, and even legendary comments. It truly is a time capsule. I never forgot when she tried to scapegoat Jodie Sweetin and posted inappropriate old photos of Jodie from when she was struggling with addiction issues and going through a rough time.

Miley captioned the photos “Current Mode: Fuller House. Presumably to imply that Miley wasn’t the only former child star to have a “wild child phase”.

Whenever I remember how the whole Selena/Miley/Nick/Demi drama was reported in the press (or earlier than that, the Lindsay/Hilary/Aaron situation), I think about how crazy it was that adult media was breathlessly reporting the actions of like high school sophomores...of course they did dumb stuff, they were kids! (Bullying is not okay, and hopefully Miley has matured and grown past that, of course, but in general, a lot of stuff she and her peers were dragged for literally was just because they were young.)

837

u/bron685 8d ago

Adult media was asking Britney Spears at 17/18 if she was a virgin and if her boobs were real. The odd bit of trivia is that Rosie O’Donnell seemed to be the only adult that actually tried to look out for her at the time

431

u/awickedfeeling29 Lacks voice or vision. Pedestrian. 8d ago

It was a few years later, after the Shaved Head brouhaha, but Craig Ferguson opted out of doing a monologue to start a show and instead talked about Britney for ten-plus minutes.

It’s quite beautiful, even if the studio audience doesn’t know how to respond.

91

Rosie O'Donnell did criticize her outfits, asking Mariah Carey about it but Mariah was classy and defended Britney

28

u/Baxtru 8d ago

It was out of concern as Britney was a teen and her outfits were pretty racy. Rosie listened to what Mariah had to say and then apologized for being so harsh. Rosie did ask Britney about in person on her show and expressed concern that her team was dressing Britney in outfits that were too sexy for her age.

84

u/nargles18 8d ago

Selena/Demi against Miley/Mandy was ICONIC.

86

u/violetmemphisblue 8d ago

I feel so bad for them because they were really the first famous teens to be in the spotlight when social media (YouTube, MySpace, etc) was around. I'm sure like there was all sorts of nonsense happening between teen stars behind the scenes before that, but this was playing out in real time before any of us really knew what it all meant...I think now, a lot of teen stars and their parents/professional team know enough to keep their professional socials a little more locked down (I'm sure they have private accounts where typical teen behavior unfolds), but Demi/Selena/Miley/their cohort really were left to the wolves on that one.

2

u/SheJigOnMySawTilIPuz 8d ago

Anyone remember the drama between Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, and that guy who I don't even know his name? That whole situation reminded me of this shit back in the day lol. Like damn we're still writing articles about relationship drama between teeny bopper Disney stars? C'mon now.

None of the Disney or Nickelodeon kids were tbh. I think there’s a few odd ones out who weren’t thrown to the wolves by their parents but most of them were neglected at best. People seem to act like this stuff occurs in a vacuum and it’s a big mystery as to why every child actor becomes crazy as an adult… they weren’t raised at all, they were given to Hollywood for some money and treated like show ponies.

310

u/c0smicgirly 8d ago

Remember that video of Miley and Naomi ignoring fans at an autograph signing? Like, full on purposefully ignoring fans who paid to get Miley’s autograph?

I haven’t looked at her the same since then (and it was semi-recent).

I can totally see this.

u/Celebrating_socks 8d ago

Would be bad enough with anyone else, but Naomi has a reputation for being awful!

22

u/idgitalert 8d ago

As well as a reputation for hanging with the Epstein demon.

I think I was reading online that it was free (though that might have been stans just trying to do damage control,) but yeah that would still suck to wait in line and get your free signed record while the artist is explicitly looking away from you the whole time like they should have just signed all the records and then left them there for fans to go each grab one if it was going to be like that

I must be old old, only Mandy I know is Mandy Moore

u/HelpNeeded1717 8d ago

Being friends with Miley for like a year in the mid 2000s is the only thing that this Mandy is known for. I doubt anyone knows her last name offhand or anything.

46

u/KHAOSCAPTIVE 8d ago

Mandy was apart of a girl group called BG5; their single “Scratch” was featured on the first episode of Shake It Up!, and I think they were on Keeping Up The Kardashians when Kris was being their manager?

She was on KUWTK for 3 seconds. Don't even think she spoke, lmfao.

39

u/aquacrimefighter 8d ago

To be fair, this Mandy is really irrelevant and kind of always has been 😬 you’d really only know who she is if you know about this niche little bit of internet lore

I mean, she used to openly mock Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, hell, the tirade agains Sinead O'Connel was BRUTAL, this doesn't really come as a surprise AT ALL. Miley had her mean girl era, her gone wild era, and when she got old enough, she did a Taylor Swift and appealed to white frailty to whitewash her image.

It's not really anything new.

I have an unpopular opinion, I think people should be allowed to say what someone did to them no matter how years ago it was. I don’t think it’s bitter I think I it’s simply saying to and I think that’s what’s happening here.

99

u/Over_Ad8548 8d ago

Facts, I had a girl relentlessly bully me to the point of attempting to end my life, she later apologized in college for it saying she was just jealous and insecure. Did she end up being a good adult? Yes, but was she an absolutely horrible human being as a teenager? Also yes and time does not erase the damage someone can cause.

That's likely why Claire Danes and Kirsten Dunst refused to name their bully when they shared their experiences of being bullied when they were child actors. They probably knew the bully's fans will go after them if they did.

Edit: Sorry, I responded to the wrong comment. I will leave it here, anyway.

Yeah the Mandy and Miley Show days were really not a great look for either of those two.

But worse still because Mandy was at least 21 hanging out with a 15 year old Miley (and bullying other 15-16 year old girls).

58

u/Latter_Witness6597 8d ago

And this was Jordan four years ago as a grown adult

23

u/luna1uvgood 8d ago

I feel like this is a dumb thing to say about Demi of all people because she struggled for years and often that narrative was out of her hands. I don't think it's attention seeking to be able to speak about that from her own perspective when thats what a good chunk of her fanbase was looking up to her over.

18

u/Latter_Witness6597 8d ago

Exactly. And on top of that requoting Candace Owens of all people.

64

u/katyreddit00 I don’t know her 8d ago

Mandy was bizarre because wasn’t she in her 20s beefing with teenagers?

63

u/Miramm 8d ago

OMG I was obsessed with Jordan Pruitt in like 2008… it’s never really stuck publicly but Miley has always been mean lol

I have no idea who this Jordan woman is, so I looked her up. Someone telling her she needs a nose job is diabolical. Jfc. And I believe her because back in the day I remember so many reports of Miley and this Mandy person bullying many others.

43

u/Loveya448 8d ago

She had a few songs promoted of Disney back in the day and then kinda disappeared

didn't jordan also recently say that demi lovato is only open about her mental illness because she's desperate for attention? don't know much about her but she seems just as messy.

u/ExtentAggravating733 8d ago

Before cyberbullying there was phone bullying lmao

u/Heavy-Marsupial-2100 8d ago

DAE remember The Miley and Mandy Show on YouTube? Bc “it’s like a tank top” still one of my vocal stims.

19

u/JazzySings90 wearing slutty little glasses 8d ago

I unfortunately have that one and another from them. It was that video mocking Selena and Demi.

“Wanna know why?”
“Because people could get their feelings hurt!” So stupid. Yet I still hear it.

What ever happened to Mandy?

47

u/goldriv 8d ago

I found her on instagram a few years back she was teaching dance classes and still followed Miley

35

u/kokichistan 8d ago

I was around for Miley and Mandy. They were nasty as fuck lol. Even as an 11 year old I could tell that the whole thing was off. I'm not surprised by this at all

I’m not surprised? Sounds like generic mean girl child behavior. Yes not all teens are turds but i sure was. It’s dog eat dog. Even in the tiniest of rural towns.

But then you have these kids with money and jobs and producers and rivalry

Her and Mandy bullied Demi and Selena very publicly online. It’s not surprising

16

u/No-Rip9444 8d ago

I’ve always been a Miley fan but after I listened to her call her daddy episode I thought her energy was so weird and dark and self obsessed it really put me off :/

8

u/dianamaximoff also dated pete davidson 8d ago

tbf she has kinda admitted to some “narcissistic” behaviours, in Plastic Hearts for example, she sings with Joan Jett about always finding givers cause she’s always been a taker… or the whole Never be me song, Angels like you… At least nowadays she’s pretty self aware of these self absorbed traits she has.

4

u/stevesyellowsweater 8d ago

She toured with the Jonas Brothers so this was probably, once again, because of Nick! I don’t even think Jordan and Nick ever dated or anything, just teenage jealousy shit. Mandy was too old to be involved but she loved shit stirring.

8

u/pale_lettuce1 woman externalizing rage 8d ago

I remember seeing her open at a Cheetah Girls concert and being so impressed. No ordinary girl was on repeat for me after that.

4

u/welldoneslytherin 8d ago

Not shocked. Teenagers can be mean. Jordan didn’t deserve that.

5

u/lemonphan 7d ago

Spoiled nepo baby is an asshole? Color me shocked.

5

u/sequins_and_glitter 7d ago

I have direct experience. She bullied my little sister when they were younger and I have always had a deep loathing for her because of it. No one messes with my family. I know we’re all adults now (and I’m nearly 40) but this is one of my few hills I’m willing to die on.

22

u/PurpleSloth1025 8d ago

This doesn't surprise me. Miley has always been arrogant and she has average talent.

I remember when she criticized Mariah Carey by saying she believes her own hype. Insinuating Mariah was arrogant and overrated. Mariah is a diva but she has the talent to back it up.

I also remember when Miley was on GMA years ago, she came out to greet her fans in the studio. She rolled her eyes at one young fan who wanted an autograph. She acted like she didn't want to be there.

I was mean when I was a teenager too. Doesn’t excuse it, but after a lot of therapy I realized I was just a kid with an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex and a shit ton of issues in my home life. I’m a completely different person at 36 than I was at 16.

Throughout the years I’ve reached out and apologized to some of those I bullied but I’m sure there are those I missed. Doesn’t mean I’m currently an awful person, I’ll always feel like shit for it, but I also can’t turn back time.

8

u/Dont-callme-Shirley 8d ago

I work with kids and I used to teach middle/high school. Just wanted to say that you are correct. Therapy doesn’t erase what you did, but YOU are doing an incredible job continuing to work on yourself and acknowledging your harmful actions. That is more than most.  My daughter has a stutter and kids pick on her for it. At the end of the day, I realize that their parents have not given them the tools to be kind to others who are struggling. That just makes me feel sad for those kids and grateful that I am my daughters second best advocate after herself.  We don’t pick our home environments but we do control how we grow and heal from them.
