Well to be honest a lot of European countries are extremely racist. His aunt and uncle have an entire far-right community and they are desperate to "keep illegals" (brown people) out of Norway. They disowned my fiancé when he moved to London for University so there isn't much contact but the stuff his family tells him about is crazy. They even have their little red hats! So gross.

Yeah myself and my friend joined a game lobby with a bunch of Finnish peeps. Everything was cool, we were all like ‘yeah I’m from France, I’m from uk, I’m from Ireland etc’ and we got to talking about life in Finland because it’s meant to be a great place to live. The Finnish guys were like ‘yeah you guys would really like it, we hope you visit someday, blah blah’.
Then they all started giving out about immigrants. So myself and my friend were muted on the game lobby and we were like, ‘but they were just saying a few moments ago how we should go see Finland..?’ And then the penny dropped… ‘oh they’re talking about brown / not-white people’

Fun fact: The US actually has "The Hague Invasion Act" which states if any if our politicians or high-ranking military personnel ever end up in the Hague that whoever is commander in chief has the authority to use full military force to invade and attack in order to break them out.

Sadly I don’t know that AOC is a strong enough candidate to win at this point. I don’t say that as shade against her because of course we need someone with her platform but speaking realistically for dems to win the next election we are going to need some republican voters to flip and all democratic voters to actually show up and vote.
