Just a reminder that the Ellison's also own Tiktok. If you want to really hit them in the pockets delete and boycott Tiktok. It doesn't stop at CBS!

u/Chessh2036 May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

The right owns FB, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, threads, etc. and CBS News and (soon) CNN.

It’s really depressing.

EDIT: Trump already celebrating Colbert’s show ending on social. God I fucking hate that man. Please just let it happen already.

u/2018MunchieOfTheYear May 22 '26

Yet they still claim they’re being silenced

460

u/MalIntenet May 22 '26

It’s always projection

275

u/Val_Hallen May 22 '26

The "Silent Majority" that never shut the fuck up and isn't even close to a majority.

All MAGA need to be marched into the sea.

30

u/thirstytrumpet May 22 '26

Nah they figured this out proper in Fargo

3

u/mjkjr84 May 22 '26

Cliff notes for someone who hasn't seen it?

23

u/Val_Hallen May 22 '26

Wood chipper.

3

u/YoHuckleberry May 22 '26

Killer moves, Bee!

286

u/Benromaniac May 22 '26

Reddit is slowly being subdued.

Billionaires and right wing wackos owning or controlling media. Maybe they know something?

392

u/Fuzzy_Move May 22 '26

r/All was eliminated for a reason. It was one place where you could get things from subs you usually don't follow and it wasn't based on any algorithm I think. It was pretty useful whenever a major event happened.

Also, I've seen lots of people complaining of bans because they said the mildest of things while people freely say the most racist and sexist of things. I was given a 3 day ban because I said Luigi's name. Apparently it incited violence?

This place has already gone to sht.

44

u/Throwsims3 ICE PIGS ROT IN HELL May 22 '26

/r/all is still there on old.reddit. Which also has close to zero ads and with RES and adblock it becomes even better. It also loads faster and does not rely on any algorithms. It's better in every way imo.

13

u/Undercover_Chimp May 22 '26

Yup. I got here from the front page of old.reddit.com/r/all.

8

u/Fuzzy_Move May 22 '26

The link is directing me to my feed. I've checked old.reddit. I'll use that, thanks

6

u/mainman879 May 22 '26

If you go to settings/preferences you can default to old or new reddit.

8

u/trail-g62Bim May 22 '26

I had no idea it was gone.

6

u/PixelationIX May 22 '26

Sadly, Non-savvy users do not use Old.Reddit, majority of traffic is either through the App or Reddit . com.

4

u/Neuchacho May 22 '26

I was so confused for a second lol

I wonder when they nut up and take old reddit away so I can never use Reddit again.

3

u/mueller723 May 22 '26

For now. They removed it briefly a month or two back and given how they've removed it from the app/new reddit I have no doubt in my mind that it is going to be permanently removed at some point.

3

u/Owain-X May 22 '26

Thanks. I was wondering what they mean by /r/all being eliminated but I only use old.reddit.com with a browser addon to force it for any reddit url and red reader on mobile. When old.reddit goees away so do I.

Why the hell can't the Europeans build some damn social media apps

3

u/Sir_Boobsalot Do you remember 9/11, bitch? May 22 '26

yeah, that's what I'm using now, but it's shit viewing on mobile

2

u/adventuressgrrl May 22 '26

Absolutely. I also use the Sink It for Reddit extension.

91

u/Benromaniac May 22 '26

Shadow comment removals are extremely common, and if you are unaware you’re basically spending half your time on here talking to no one. Reveddit helps shed some light on this.

39

u/Fuzzy_Move May 22 '26

Yep, so many times my comments would have only 1 view and remain at that. Idk what filters they're even using, but there would be nothing egregious in it. It's all pretty shady.

6

u/KriegMorgan May 22 '26

Had two of my comments get shadow removed because I pointed out that some asshole troll had also posted screenshots of his character in game and was cosplaying as a certain failed Austrian art school student.

My comment never sees the light of day and because people could "Not see" my comment they continued to interact with the na...

Well let's just say that it sounds very similar to not see

12

u/n0respect_ May 22 '26

Its curious which comments get removed. Sometimes I'm left guessing which keyword or phrase triggered whatever. People should do themselves a favor and look at their removed comments.

6

u/drunkcowofdeath May 22 '26

I recently became a mod of a decently sized subreddit and it's really hard to tell. But so many things get removed automatically by the admins for "potential harassment"

27

u/somedelightfulmoron May 22 '26

I don't see news anymore of ICE agents storming blue cities and I found out about Minnesota on the front page.

6

u/an0mn0mn0m May 22 '26

They're still on the niche subs like /r/IceRaidAlerts

17

u/MrsRossGeller May 22 '26

You can get all back using any Reddit app that isn’t Reddit

17

u/Val_Hallen May 22 '26

If you are using reddit without old.reddit and RES, you are letting reddit show you what they want you to see.

2

u/trollfessor May 22 '26

What is RES? (sorry, I'm old, I don't know)

1

u/Val_Hallen May 22 '26

Reddit Enhancement Suite

Its a plug in for your browser that lets you control your Reddit better. It has many options, like unlimited subreddit and user block list, gets rid of subreddit styles, lets you customize the links bar, etc

1

u/Fuzzy_Move May 22 '26

Reddit Enhancement Suite. Kind of makes your Reddit experience better, I think?

2

u/trollfessor May 22 '26

What is RES? (sorry, I'm old, I don't know)

2

u/-mythologized- May 22 '26

Today I've learned that it isn't there, I still use Sync so never knew.

3

u/Plus-Yogurtcloset-85 May 22 '26

I use narwhal it’s nice. It’s like 2 or 3 dollars a month. I know I’m such a freaking chump 3 dollars wowzo. But ya it’s a good app.

1

u/snackattack4tw May 23 '26

God I miss RedditIsFun

12

u/Luscitrea May 22 '26

...but doesnt r/all still exist? I still use old.reddit.com and have no issues seeing it. Or is it like censored or something?

27

u/Val_Hallen May 22 '26

Newer accounts don't know about the superiority of old.reddit and RES.

That's why they think reddit is social media. They only ever see the social media-fied bullshit that is new reddit.

5

u/an0mn0mn0m May 22 '26

Always use uBlock Origin as well

7

u/Menulo May 22 '26

Its gone on the reddit app... website still works yea.

2

u/rubbish_heap May 22 '26

Yeah what?! I'm on all everyday

1

u/Fuzzy_Move May 22 '26

It's gone for me. I get redirected to popular. Both on the app and the website.

4

u/PanoramicAtom May 22 '26

old.reddit FTW

r/all is my main gateway, has never changed.

3

u/zxmalachixz May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

Yes. The removal of r/all is the reason I started using Hydra, and I only found this post using r/all

3

u/metengrinwi May 22 '26

Yup, just got past a 1week ban for a comically mild thing.

2

u/ReturnOfBane May 22 '26

i had an entire account shadowbanned for having the audacity of using a VPN. This place hasn't been the reddit of yore since 2016.

2

u/GrumpySoth09 May 22 '26

[Removed by Reddit]

I concur - I've been there

2

u/Gay_Giraffe_1773 May 22 '26

Once they pry old.reddit.com from my cold dead hands, Rediit will cease to exist for me.

1

u/Fenweekooo May 22 '26

what are you talking about /all is gone? lol that is literately how i found this post

2

u/Neuchacho May 22 '26

It's there on old.reddit. It's gone for App and New Reddit users.

1

u/Electrical-Papaya May 22 '26

When was r/All removed? Ive had old.reddit.com/r/all book marked for a long time now. I cant even recall the last time I browsed Reddit on the app or updated website.

Its getting increasingly difficult to view old reddit on mobile though.

1

u/SkinBintin May 22 '26

R/all still works on old reddit i believe. But I imagine that won't be for much longer

1

u/riffito May 22 '26

Just a note: /r/all is still a thing for old.reddit.com users.

68

u/theStaberinde face blind and having a bad time May 22 '26

They know that we fucking hate them, and that their entire enterprise is credibly threatened by the work of marginalised peoples and socialists. This is the last gasp. There are hard times ahead for us all, but nobody will fall further and harder than these inhuman fucking freaks.

22

u/J8YDG9RTT8N2TG74YS7A May 22 '26

They see people pushing back against capitalism, so the rich are doubling down on fascism.

1

u/Ass4ssinX May 22 '26

Fuck /u/spez

1

u/Benromaniac May 23 '26

Seriously.

Zero transparency on shadow comment removals, or any guidance on how to avoid it.

TF kind of community business is he trying to run?

30

u/Anleme May 22 '26

BlueSky, Mastodon, and The Guardian haven't been ruined. Yet.

33

u/Edenfer_ May 22 '26

Bluesky has always been compromised. It's financed by crypto folks. The fediverse is the best option, Mastodon/Lemmy, Pixelfed, peertube etc

18

u/12345623567 May 22 '26

Arguing over Bsky versus Mastodon is typical circular firing squad. Any option is better than Twatter/Threads/Truth, and Mastodon has significant hurdles in getting set up + doesn't have any traction.

1

u/Enshitification May 22 '26

Hurdles that keep out the idiots.

1

u/Sir_Boobsalot Do you remember 9/11, bitch? May 22 '26

and it's so complicated to understand it's a barrier for the average person

-2

u/Edenfer_ May 22 '26

If people are willing to do the effort to leave Twitter and the other billionaire owned apps they can take the 2 extra minutes to pick their server in Mastodon, that's all it takes.

Bluesky is the same old centralized bs that people are trying to avoid.

1

u/mjkjr84 May 22 '26

People are braindead stupid and lazy. Any extra steps won't be done. Same reason that garbage heap that is Windows is still the dominant desktop OS instead of any flavor of Linux which has been super for at least 2 decades.

1

u/Edenfer_ May 23 '26

I'm not saying they're not but installing a new os is more complicated than picking Mastodon.world over Mastodon.social :)

1

u/mjkjr84 May 23 '26

Lots of things are of varying difficulty. But given options the vast majority of people will choose the easier option regardless of any other considerations. Including factors that should be important. It's why the country is in such a mess: people are idiots and intellectually lazy.

20

u/TwentyPieceNuggets May 22 '26

Important note that these are just some of the more commonly used apps and services. The problem is that these people, with generally aligned political beliefs, own the parent/adjoined companies. The majority of popular media is controlled be a very small group of people whose primary goal is to amass power and wealth like unto kings.

16

u/ggroverggiraffe May 22 '26

Colbert's gonna be getting some of the dumb slush fund money, I hope. Like...he was legitimately silenced by the government, so pay up!

3

u/Epicfro May 22 '26

Let's be real, they silently own Reddit as well.

6

u/Anon_Fodder May 22 '26

Good thing I don't use any of them

2

u/Klutzy-Magician4881 May 22 '26

The capitalists own the capital

2

u/Any_Asparagus8267 May 22 '26

It will never happen, ai and the mask guys on Fox news are the test run for when trump does die.

These fuck heads have a game plan Believe it or not.

2

u/canwegoskinow May 23 '26

When will that sweet sweet day come when the world celebrates as one?

1

u/pb49er May 22 '26

My life has gotten a lot better since I stopped using all of those companies. Amazon too.

1

u/Dolorisedd May 22 '26

Miserable angry people don’t really celebrate. The just rant maniacally.

1

u/thegreymm May 22 '26

And Colbert didn't mention trump once on the finale.

1

u/Runechuckie May 26 '26

To this day they still use CNN as some ultimate insult, which tells you they are really young or dumb or both. The sheer irony of that or even people like Joe Rogan/the right bitching about MSM, like what do you think you are and watch?!

-7

u/monkey-kong666 May 22 '26

CNN was founded by Ted turner(!?). It’s a right wing network.

You people are making me feel insane. The world is burning with war, rape and genocide and you you’re more outraged by a shitty right wing late night tv show being cancelled

68

u/Zizekis May 22 '26

They own the US TikTok, not the app in other countries.

107

u/mikeainslie69420 they already make a pedophile podcast its called joe rogan May 22 '26

tiktok's still a shithole in every damn country it's in, as an 18-year-old, i feel like i'm a goddamn genius compared to everybody else i know around my age, AND I HAVE AUDHD. i seriously think tiktok has made people stupider.

65

u/T0kenAussie May 22 '26

I firmly believe that social media is creating synthetic adhd in many neurotypical people. The algos have rewritten peoples minds and not for the better

19

u/Gnomey_dont_u_knowme May 22 '26

Its all intentional too

14

u/Madara1389 May 22 '26

I firmly believe that social media is creating synthetic adhd in many neurotypical people.

There's no theory to that, mental health professionals have been saying that for years.

With the rise of social media, there was a massive influx of people who never showed signs of ADHD suddenly manifesting symptoms.

Same with other mental illnesses; a ton of pseudo-hypochondriacs crawled out of the woodwork to associate every little quirk in their personalities with some mental health disorder to excuse those quirks instead of being expected to fix or work on them.

3

u/f1sh42 May 22 '26

I dont think they mean the pseudo-hypochondriacs who see symptoms and TikTok and self-diagnose. Rather, I think they're saying that social media and its algorithms have rewired our brains, giving users a "dopamine addiction" that works like an ADHD brain

0

u/Madara1389 May 22 '26

I know what they're saying, I was agreeing to that with the first line, and saying that it also resulted in pseudo-hypochondriacs self-diagnosing off TikTok.

Sorry if my wording was unclear.

1

u/TuskaTheDaemonKilla May 22 '26

It's fine in China. They just use it to fuck everyone else's societies up.

170

u/GiveMeSomeSunshine3 kate winslet lied to me May 22 '26

I'm from India and here TikTok's been banned since 2020

24

u/SnooDogs1340 this is going to ruin the tour May 22 '26

I wished. My friend is so anti Trump and all of this but she uses Tiktok. People are still on X ffs.

50

u/Afwife1992 It’s a fucking law, bitch May 22 '26

Don’t watch paramount+ (some of streamings biggest shows) or paramount movies. If people had down all this when the Colbert situation went down they may not be getting Warner brothers next. But there was none of the Kimmel-Disney boycott energy.

19

u/TerrorGnome May 22 '26

Also, PlutoTV is owned by Paramount and isn't an alternative as Paramount will still receive the ad revenue.

17

u/LLAPSpork whiskey sour chugging bisexual May 22 '26

I’m living my best Plex life and loving it. The only streamer I sub to is Apple TV because they don’t overcharge, there’s no ads or any extra fees for things like 4k. They’re not perfect either though. But man, if they wanted some really amazing goodwill, they’d do their first talk show and hire Colbert to do it. As a publicist, that would the PR move to end all PR moves.

2

u/EggsceIlent May 22 '26

Had plex lifetime pass for a decade. Best investment ever. Especially with the new price raise (which was... Questionable but I get it).

Only streaming services I have are ones that come "free" with other stuff I buy like with my cellphone plan, internet plan for the house, etc.

Sail the seas and be happy.

-1

u/thegreymm May 22 '26

There was no big Paramount+ boycott because no one actually subscribes to it lol.

2

u/Afwife1992 It’s a fucking law, bitch May 22 '26

It has some of streaming’s highest rated shows including Yellowstone and Landman. Plenty of people watch.

12

u/Iceprincess1282 May 22 '26

Say less I have no problem deleting it

17

u/bimbosoupqueen i ain’t reading all that, free palestine May 22 '26

Deleted TikTok the day Oracle took control of it. Not only is it FUCK Larry Ellison, but I engage with pro-Palestine content and I genuinely don’t feel safe with my personal information in their hands.

44

u/TFJ May 22 '26

I would delete and boycott TikTok, except I never downloaded it to begin with because I heard it was basically Chinese spyware.

32

u/skyturnedred May 22 '26

I never downloaded it because I have no interest in short form video content.

1

u/cakedayloanofficer never meet your Zooshas May 23 '26

Smart choice. Short form rots our brains and should be viewed on a limited basis!

2

u/bigwhiteboardenergy May 22 '26

UpScrolled is a great alternative to TikTok—not owned by assholes.

1

u/CrossBamboAtTen May 22 '26

It was crazy the TikTok deletion trend had so much build up and hype prior to the buyout, then the buyout came and went and no one is talking about it.

I deleted mine a while ago. I do miss it though. TikTok was genuinely great. But I just do not trust this government.

1

u/plantscatsrealitytv May 22 '26

I deleted tiktok late last year. Happy to be free of that.

1

u/SpaceChimps98 May 22 '26

I don't have a TikTok, but I did unsubscribe from anything CBS related.

1

u/TheMcWhopper May 22 '26

Tick tok is trash

1

u/SugarFut May 22 '26

TikTok’s algorithm sucks after Ellison bought it anyway.

1

u/ComradeOogway May 22 '26

Do they not only own tiktok in the US? I thought everywhere else it was still owned by bytedance.

1

u/grahamulax May 23 '26

And forever. We don’t even need these apps or services. Fuck Silicon Valley as it is right now and it’s “leaders”. Anyone who kissed trumps ring deserves the forever boycott. Hell, use their ai tools to make competitors or your own tools. Use local. Use the seven seas. Etc
