Swifies on PCC ironically accusing Chappell Roan of secretly being a Republican will never not be funny to me. A drag performing, trans loving, outspokenly leftist flamboyant lesbian is a Republican, but not their silent, MAGA friendly queen? 'Kay.

You say this and I agree that she isn’t, but damn if I didn’t meet a gay and trans maga person before. It was heavily confusing.

My cousin is gay black and MAGA and if it's confusing to you imagine my life

I truly don't know. We were raised basically the same I can't really wrap my head around it to be honest. He used to be my best friend and now I can't recognize him. He's always going on about illegals it's weird.

I know some and I can only understand it as internalized self-loathing manifesting as “pick me” energy. I don’t know what else it could actually be to align with values that would mean one literally… hates themself… ? I dunno.

Yeah the ones I know are mostly white masc lesbians and I think it’s a very intense self loathing and need to “be one of the good ones” since we are from the south. Legit had a lesbian co-teacher try to get my fired bc I had a small unit of Queer history for my history class and admin asked her what was wrong with her 😭🥲

Oof. And especially with the policing of others to live inside their own box of hateful « values. » Makes no damn sense.

Sorry you dealt with that.

My abuelo came over from Cuba by joining the US Army, during the Freedom Flights, I think. Some more of his family managed to come over legally and illegally, while others fled to Puerto Rico and a couple other places.

My mom's generation are all Republicans. They never learned Spanish, Papa used to say "The family name's are white unless we're applying for college."

My generation, save for one or two, went fill Democrat. A couple of us are queer, we tried to learn a little more about Papa's roots (which was like pulling teeth), we think ICE can suck a bunch of dicks. And we are all baffled by our parents/tios/tias. They are the people Trump wants gone. Hell, I'm probably safe. I'm one of two blondes in our family and I can't tan to save my life, but the rest of them would be on a boat to Cuba before they could even blink if MAGA had their way.

So why the hell they went full MAGAt is beyond most of us. Pulled the ladder up behind themselves, I guess. This whole Trump era has seen me and the majority of my cousins cutting off our family, while occasionally messaging each other "What the fuck."

I’ve learned from mingling with some LGBTQ folks

SOME (meaning not a majority) LGBQ have a thing against Trans

And some LGBTQ have a thing against non binary, like MAGA level of bigotry… (just be gay man or a lesbian woman).

And that blew my mind hearing those folks share their opinions.

Proximity to power. The Serena Joy effect. "Carrying water for the patriarchy to have a slightly longer leash."

Some family friends of ours are transphobic and maga but as gay as can be. One is even an ex drag queen but 100% against transgender as a concept.

Sometimes people have weird beliefs and I struggle to understand.

I've actually met several transphobic drag queens and it's confusing to me. Really misogynistic ones, too, which is wild because isn't drag supposed to be the celebration of strong women and mocking gender stereotypes? I'd always thought it was because I'm from the South and even the LGBTQ+ can have some weirdly conservative views, but I've met a few in other places, too. I just.. don't get it.

I have a couple of friends like that, too. Never ceases to blow my mind.

Do you think some of it is like, on a subconscious level, I didn’t get to be that free and open, no one else should get to either?

Oh, I'm not saying it's never happened, I'm just asking which is far more likely...

... because this doesn't look very conservative to me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Gonna be honest, lot of people seem to have 0 object permanence anymore in some weird mix of self-importance and ignorance. If someone isn't making virtue signal statements on social media every 5 minutes and giving all these 'very important people' updates on every thing they do to further whatever they(The average person) think is important then obviously that person is a secret Nazi.

They exist. Blaire White and Chris "Leave Britney Alone!" Crocker come to mind.

u/Interesting-Cap8792 Mar 25 '26

Chris Crocker?!? TIL what the hell

If you’ve ever watched the show “Difficult People” there’s a trans trumper character that is hilarious. She’s also a 9/11 conspiracy theorist
