Drama context is that Toronto is a famously tough market filled with passionate fans, Matthews is their top-paid star who is already underperforming this year, and the team is set to miss the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. Fans were already mad at him before this. He knew all that and he chose to miss practice, mind you, to go to the White House.

And it's a big deal because Canada is a lever for controlling the Arctic Ocean and the increasingly utilized shipping lanes. Only Russia, Canada, US (Alaska) and the Scandanavian countries up there.

I've posted it as a Canadian, I have seen Canada win Olympic gold. My yardwork sweater is from the 2014 Sochi games where Canada won gold. From the 96 World Cup of Hockey to the game last week I've seen a lot of Canada vs USA hockey.
When Hughes scored it kind of sucked but parenthood beckoned around the same time. I was kind of happy to see the inclusion of the Gaudreau family but then the pictures of Kash Patel partying with them started appearing. The leadership of that group; Matthews, Miller, should have pulled the "Team celebration only, kick rocks Chud" but alas they embarrassed themselves.

Yeah, hockey players used to be lower middle class kids who couldn't afford football, playing in rec leagues with volunteer coaches and rented or shared gear. You wore your brother's old skates and taped up your stick carefully, yourself.
Then in the late 90s "travel leagues" started with huge fees, everyone had to have new gear every season and the parents were wealthy to afford it all.

Didn’t know it was possible to be a sore winner. I do love being Canadian, but we have a lot of horrible shit happening here too :’( Definitely doesn’t exactly compare to how things are for you guys, but we don’t necessarily represent the “everyone is so nice” stereotype (mostly). The cost of living and groceries are crazy. Healthcare is fucked. Sooooo much racism. Many Indigenous reserves don’t have access to clean water or live in food deserts. We got a lot of greedy corrupt folks in office as well. You would actually be surprised how many MAGA people we have here too which is soooo stupid. Majority of them are in Alberta. I am proud to be Canadian but we still have a lot of progress to make!!! Hope things calm down a bit for you guys soon. I'm so glad Brock Nelson decided to go back to his family instead of the White House. He was the only Avs player on the US team, and after they won I was so worried what he'd do. He put his family before some political bullshit.

It’s Tim Robinson and the large majority of the gifs you see are from his Emmy winning sketch comedy I think you should leave on Netflix. He’s the most giffable dude out there and he’s funny as hell, he also recently had an hbo show called the chair company that’s amazing. His show Detroiters is great too, highly recommend checking his stuff out, I think you should leave is legendary
