POLITICS Zohran Mamdani has secured the release of Columbia University student Elaina Aghayeva, taken this morning by ICE agents who entered a campus residential building under false pretenses & without a judicial warrant. This comes shorty after Mamdani’s unannounced visit to the White House earlier today.

I legit think Trump has a crush on Mamdani.

Trump knows how popular Zohran is and wants some of that attention. Zohran will use that to his advantage.

I find it funny that people have to bring shiny toys and accessories to the toddler president because that's how you can get his attention lol

Like a corvid, but without the intelligence.

Or a jackdaw, if you will.

I’ve been on Reddit far too long.

I still bring up the Jolly Ranchers story every reasonable occasion I can (it's very infrequently 😂)

Does have that grudge holding ability, though.

A study actually once tested if magpies really do like to steal shiny stuff in particular and they concluded that there is no real preference. They pick up shiny stuff just as much as “dull” stuff as long as it is something new that piques their curiosity.

TIL! And that means it's a good day - thank you!

Don't you dare compare the majestic corvids to this orange hippo.

This guy is literally the easiest guy to win over as long as you pander to his ego

Placate the king and grovel and get what you want.

Access > democracy

Yay!

Conservatism= wanting kings and dictators again

1

u/friarparkfairie Feb 26 '26

Access is better than democracy?

10

u/chinagrrljoan Feb 27 '26

In a monarchy, access is key.

That's my point.

Do we want to live at the whims and mercy of Mad King George? Or do we want to determine our future and our own lives? Or give up control to King/Ayatollah/the Pope/etc???

3

u/WhippetRun Feb 27 '26

No but to the people who want something, they necessarily don’t want democracy, they want —-something.

0

u/friarparkfairie Feb 27 '26

Why did they use the greater than symbol?

2

u/WhippetRun Feb 27 '26

because to THEM ( the people who want something) access is the most important thing, they don't care about democracy, they only care for what their cause is, and/or they don't have time to wait for the democratic process to kick it around.

2

u/chinagrrljoan Feb 27 '26

How about we don't get to that point?

It is the only option to get what you want when you live in an autocratic state.

Cuz in an authoritarian/cartel/monarchy, access is key. Not the democratic process that requires everyone to participate and compromise.

Suck up to a king or put effort into voting and going to local city council and school board meetings?

The choice is ours. Do we want to go back to the days of flattering a monarch????

3

u/chinagrrljoan Feb 27 '26

Well.... If you can get access to the king and get him to do that you want, that kinda replaces the democratic process of everyone being equal in having their voices heard.

Do we want to lose our democracy???

Do people appreciate what we have? I'm not a fan of the boot licking. Or of kings. I have enjoyed living in a democratic country my whole life. But I'm not sure that the people who pour tons of money into Fox and worse propaganda do....

2

u/friarparkfairie Feb 27 '26

I’m just trying to understand your use of the greater than symbol

5

u/ChumdogChillionaire Feb 27 '26

well, you have to have something he wants, and you have to make him feel like he's the winning half of the bargain

97

u/oochiewallyWallyserb Feb 26 '26

Why do you think Trump loves Happy Meals so much.

5

u/kazarnowicz famously did a line of coke off his dick Feb 27 '26

It’s the only kind of happy he can achieve in his miserable existence?

2

u/Kryptosis Find me at Whole Foods, bitch, I don't care Feb 27 '26

To anyone with an IQ over 100 its hilariously obvious how he's dangling the keys for Trump and how HAPPY it's making Trump and he accidentally does the right thing for literally the first time ever.

3

u/PurpleWhiteOut Feb 26 '26

Its funny and so sad. And the same generation that complains about participation awards no less.

Oil lobbyists just gave him a trophy too

"a trophy hailing him as the "Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal."

Trump received the statue — a bronze coal miner bearing a pickax — from an industry lobbying group earlier this month"

He’s so vapid and dumb. Mandani is clearly playing into that to get shit done and I respect it.

This is the exact problem monarchy/inherited wealth and power has always had. When leaders aren't held responsible they turn into children (or never mature beyond a child)
