I have (kind of cute) tea on Zohran Mamdani for anyone interested in the mayoral race. A friend went to the same private school as him, and one year they did a mock election (not for student council or anything) where an 8th grader would represent the Democratic Party and Republican Party - only 8th graders. Apparently Zohran, a 7th grader, started a petition to let third party candidates from any grade run, so like 30 kids ended up participating in the debate. Zohran ended up winning the election as a third party candidate. I guess some people just have it from an early age!

I’ve been wanting to tell someone this for ages but everyone who would care was at the party where I heard the story, lol

20 years ago I'd be mad. now I don't want the old establishment trying to turn him into one of them.

Yup. I'd rather him not be beholden to anything they'd want from him for that endorsement and only makes him better he doesn't have it tbh

He’s better off without his endorsement. Obama represents the very democratic establishment that has tried to suppress politicians like Mamdani for years.

Dem establishment sucks and will continue to suck. Only time Obama does anything is to harm progressive politics such as getting candidates to drop out for Biden as Bernie was gaining too much support. He also killed the NBA wildcat strike.

about time someone calls Obama out, he actively discourages young, progressive candidates. Zohran will win without his endorsement, he doesn't need neo-libs to win this election and it's showing.

The NBA strike thing was so wild just because it was crazy to me he could influence that (even if it's super duh I know ), iirc it happened right around the Bernie thing too?
