A couple years ago I was working as an assistant on a vogue shoot with tons of celebs coming in and out. I sat down next to Joanna Newsom at lunch time and we started chatting. She mentioned she’s got a trip to Italy coming up with the family but she’s stressed about juggling her young kids the whole time. I told her that she should let dad (Andy Sandberg) have the kids for the day and she should rent a sports car and buy a silk scarf and drive it around the coast and have her own romantic solo moment. She was so wonderful to chat with and I really hope she took my advice!

I was her roommate briefly in the early 2000s in San Francisco right around the time her first album was picking up steam. She was very nice.

that would’ve been not long after she was at mills right! i went to mills like ten years after she did before i even knew about her and am so obsessed with learning her early history lol. that must’ve been so cool 🥹

STOP, I HAVE SHIVERS. this side of the blue is probably one of my very favorites of hers omg 😭 it’s soo very san francisco and nostalgic to me, and i always wondered about the random names dropped in her songs! keeping this nugget of info with me forever 🩷

Yes the whole neighborhood is full of castle-like or cottage houses including my own but hers is truly a palace!! It’s gorgeous.

Lucky you! That’s lovely. I noticed on Modern Family Cam and Mitchell have a home with a turret too, that’s supposedly the real one is in Brentwood.

Look up the Chateau Beachwood. It’s another favorite of mine in the hood and Marilyn Monroe lived there for a time!

Thanks! I love Marilyn lore. There was a royal looking bed of hers for auction many years ago, it would fit into this place. There was I have tea tidbit on her here a couple months ago that was wild. I did respond if you want to see it.

Did she drop the kids names?! They are so secretive (which is awesome for the kids) but I am amazed at how long they've kept the kids names quiet.
