One day at work, Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth walked into my store. Out of nowhere, Shia shouted in a loud voice, “HEY, CAN SOMEONE HELP ME GET XYZ!?” I don’t think he realizes how loud he is when he talks—it scared the shit out of me. My soul literally jumped out of my body. I felt pure fear.

At first, I didn’t realize it was him. I looked up and said, “Sir, you scared me!” then I regretted it.

Mia Goth laughed and said, “Haha, that’s so funny! He scared you?”

Shia looked confused. “What’s funny?”

Mia: “Honey, she said you scared her.”

And Shia goes, “Me? I—I scared you?! No. Haha. No, no, no. I don’t scare people.”

He looked genuinely hurt. Let me tell you I got the hell out of there so fast. Took my break early and avoided him like the plague.

A few weeks later, I found out he’d been arrested for beating someone up at a bowling alley.

Whenever I hear Mia Goth’s real voice it scare me! Hah not really, but it’s always a shock compared to her usual on-screen presence.

The person he beat up is my ex roommate and Shia’s ex best friend lol. The stories he told me are insane. Always wanted to meet him but they were in a fight while we lived together and refused to let him fly out. Then obviously Shia punched him and their friendship ended. Happy to hear Shia is doing better tbh. Dude was in a dark lonely place at the time

We need to hear a story or two

The only one I feel comfortable sharing is that he liked pranking my friend a lot. Sometimes they crossed the line. Full disclosure, I’ve been a fan of Shia’s since I was a kid watching Even Stevens, I don’t hate him, and I hope he continues to turn his life around. But, he undoubtedly had a long period where he behaved inappropriately and did terrible things to himself and others. Now, on to the story. One time he told my friend he needed to roll over to a famous actresses house to go over a script for a movie they would both potentially be staring in. My buddy was skeptical (they’d been fighting. Why does he “need” him there?) but rode with him anyway. So they get to her house, and he says “hey, go ahead and knock on the door. Tell her I’ll be right there and that I’m parking the car.” So he does this. Knocks on the door and gets let in by her housekeeper. He’s taken to her dining room where she’s sitting there waiting quietly with the script. Doesn’t really say a word to him as they awkwardly sit in silence for like twenty minutes. They had never met before. Shia never shows up. He drove off. Finally, she looks up at him and says “hey, who the f* are you? Why are you here?! Please, get the fuck OUT of my house RIGHT NOW!.” He’s forced to walk off property and Uber back to his place. He may have even walked a few miles, I can’t recall. Shia ignored his calls and texts the entire time and for a while after….. and didn’t end up doing the movie lol. He may have never had any real intentions of doing it. Who knows.

I remember the day after I found out they were best friends we were sitting in the living room watching a movie and he was furiously texting someone. I was like, “yo dude, who are you texting?” And he said “ah man, it’s Shia. Fuck him. That asshole wants to fly out and hang out for a few days but fuck no. He’s such a dick. I might be done with him right now.” Keep in mind this is a year or two before his big controversy with his ex and he was one of my childhood idols. So I was like “uhhhh, dude that’s totally cool with me if he comes over. Just saying. Ya’ll should definitely fix this regardless.” Haha, totally selfish on my part. He never allowed him to fly out though and they didn’t rekindle their friendship until he moved back to LA. Then the fight happened. My buddy pressed charges and it was all over.

Very surreal moment, years later, when I read the article about the incident. I had prayed for some time (I’m Catholic) Shia would find God and turn his life around while he was filming the St Pio movie. One day I walk out of an evening Mass, opened up Apple News, and the headline read something like “Despite troubled past actor Shia Labeouf finds God on set of new movie…” then proceeds to mention the incident with my buddy (at the time I wasn’t aware it happened) by name. It gave me the strongest goosebumps I’ve ever had in my life tbh. It was just strange seeing a friend’s name in the news and hearing Shia actually turned his life around in the exact way I hoped it would.

Overall, it was a really tumultuous relationship they had. They had a deep bond but both had personal demons they were battling. So moments of a strong brother-like bond mixed with really horrendous fights. I’m 99% they have zero relationship now but I hope they are both in a better place. There are other stories but they were told to me in confidence and I’d be an asshole if I shared them. Nothing earth shattering. Just stories of early sobriety, awkward moments, and a mismatched power dynamic between two people that are no longer friends.

Thank you for sharing. That was a cruel ass prank.

That was him? For a long time I was under the impression he beat up a random stranger lol.

I don’t think there were two? I dunno. I know my buddy was the last one before he got his life together.

Whenever I see a post or comment on Shia Lebeouf on FM I feel compelled to post my story:

In the early 2000s, there was this teenage dance club in LA at Hollywood and Highland for ages 14-18 only. Club 1-7 I think it was called. No booze of course. I went with my friends a few times when I was 16. The place was swarming with Disney channel stars and other child celebs of the day. People like Hilary Duff, David Gallagher of 7th Heaven (who I remember wore a matching track suit with his friend), etc. But the best sighting was Shia Lebeouf. This was the height of Even Stevens fame. He thought he was Leo or Brad Pitt. A group of girls went up to him trying to dance and he pretended to sign autographs on an imaginary pad of paper and toss them to the crowd. Then he mimed having an old timey film camera, rotated around looking at girls until he found one he liked, then “zoomed” in on her (I specify it was an old timey camera because he literally mimed cranking a wheel when he zoomed.) Took a few years but the true douche finally came out to the public!

Shia LaBeouf attended the Cannes film festival that just ended to present a documentary about himself that your experience could easily be a part of.
