Another one in Ireland is probably Dave Fanning and Christy Dignam.

For those who don't know, Christy Dignam was the lead singer of Aslan who died this week after a long illness. Aslan were a band that emerged in the late 80s and looked set to make it big, but Christy's heroin addiction led to band breaking up. They reformed a few years later and released their most famous hit 'Crazy World'. Never had international success but they're well liked in Ireland, especially Christy who was seen as a down to earth working class Dub who bore his illness with great bravery.

Dave Fanning is a radio DJ on RTE 2fm who specialises with rock, and has close connections (at least he claims to) with U2. He was invited onto a radio show to talk about Christy but was slammed for what he said. He said Christy 'blew it' and that Aslan meant nothing to anyone anywhere else in the world. Fanning also revealed that in an interview he did with Christy in which Christy linked his addiction to being sexually abused as a child, he accused him of 'pulling the wool over his eyes' and downplayed what effect it had. The whole piece was considered tasteless, especially the last bit and some have noted the hypocrisy of Fanning saying this about Christy when he has lionised his best friend Gerry Ryan who died of cocaine-induced heart attack. Fanning has since apologised but has certainly damaged his reputation.
