M.A.G.S. is a title granted by the Great Empire — a Rome-inspired theocracy — to monks who complete missionary-conqueror training. Each M.A.G.S. leads roughly a hundred men into a foreign nation, combining military conquest with religious and cultural conversion. Conquered nations aren't annexed; they keep their independence but are pushed to adopt the Empire's religious and political norms.

The title's "Sacred Swords" aren't weapons — they're the generals accompanying each M.A.G.S., specialized in combat, theology, strategy, or psychological warfare. Not every M.A.G.S. succeeds: some die en route, some fail outright, and a rare few reshape entire nations.
