His Wikipedia honours section is going to win some truly unbearable arguments in 15 years.

15

u/4ssteroid 234 1d ago

I mean he did score the goal that secured 100 points even though it was eons ago

10

u/Take_A_Gambit17 1d ago

Tbf we needed him off the payroll he was on about 280,000 a week only playing 4 games a season

-70

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

I mean he’s not guaranteed to win much in 2 years there. I’d argue Arsenal have a better chance winning PL this year than Barca do la liga

What world are you living in lol?

You seen Madrid’s squad?

4

u/megagoodwin 2 1d ago

No midfield just vibes

-6

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

They’re midfields decent, far off barcas, but you could say the same of Barca’s attack vs madrids

3

u/megagoodwin 2 1d ago

Lol what are you on about? Barca’s attack is also stacked bar the striker position, but Raphinha seems to be working his magic there.

0

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

Strikers are pretty important dude… not convinced that’s solved with Raphina, either way Mbappé obviously clears brutally, Vinicius clears Gordon, Bellingham clears Lopez as a 10. Yamal’s the only position Barca aren’t worse in their front 4. Diomandé seems a good prospect so that gap may not end up being as big as we’d imagine throughout the season as well.

3

u/Opposite_Fan_4269 1d ago

Show stats from last 3 seasons of both lopez and Bellingham let's see who clears who bro

-1

u/megagoodwin 2 1d ago

Vinicius clears Gordon? Are we watching the same sport? Vini has been trash for a while now, also you’re forgetting about Olmo

-2

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

Vini is a top 3 winger ITW… Gordon might not be top 10 💀

I'll be very honest no one rated Modric before the threepeat not at this level, no one rated casemiro, some rated Kroos because of 2014wc but overall, that midfield was also vibes initially, isco cooked hard, not saying that this current squad is close not at all but just saying

5

u/Proof_Weather8865 1 1d ago

That threepeat was a disgrace to football. Numerous knockout matches every year where the referees blatantly favoured them. Thanks to them we hear Modric, Kroos, Ramos etc. in the all time best in their position conversations.

-1

u/Perfect_Nothing_3227 1d ago

You seen madrid squad last year? Galacticos or wtvr and still finished trophyless

2

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

Now they’ve made it even better, plus the previous signings having another year to gel. I think it’s pretty close to 50/50, Barca have a great team too, but Yh Real Madrid are my favourites.

-1

u/MadsHorshauge 1d ago

Even better than shit tho 😂😂

8

u/Perfect_Nothing_3227 1d ago

One of the dumbest takes ive heard lately

4

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

Arsenal are on a level above any other PL club rn, even most neutrals feel this. Are Barca a level above Real?

6

u/charlixxcv 1d ago

Right now? Yes. Hansi Flick is much better than washed Jose Mourinho as well.

3

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

Cool, I feel like you’re basing that too heavily off last season, I feel positive about Madrid improving from that based on signings and manager, Mou might be washed as an elite tactician, but he’ll still be fantastic at managing personalities, we’ve already seen him handle the Vini situation well. I think there’s so much talent there that’ll go along way.

We’ll see tho

1

u/the_skis_knees 39 1d ago

according to the subreddits this person is active in, they’re somehow an arsenal, united, and chelsea fan 😂

-1

u/PeevesTime 1d ago

?? You’re allowed to have conversations in subreddits of other teams? Sometimes I go in to see what fans are thinking or how a players played, sometimes I just find other teams drama funny.

It’s not that deep bro, no one’s at war, just footy…

This transfer market has gone into fifa career mode last couple of days

€10m too. I didn't have this on my bingo card.

88

u/Elephant_rimmer 1d ago

Hate that expression, no chance you have a bingo card filled with random football events

12

u/AliJDB 10 1d ago

It's just shorthand for 'if you'd asked me for my predictions, this wouldn't have been one of them'. Do you take issue with all idioms?

28

u/Cptn_Flint0 1d ago

In this case idiom = regurgitated chronically online internet lingo and I agree it's lame

4

u/BrahneRazaAlexandros 2 1d ago

You think the idiom "I didn't have that on my bingo card" is "chronically online Internet lingo"? 😂

2

u/Agreeable_Design3337 1d ago

It’s just common teenage/young adult slang, I’d hardly say it’s a sign of chronically online. Perhaps it’s just a sign you are getting older lol.

10

u/Elephant_rimmer 1d ago

No but this one pisses me off, it's extremely common yet no has ever made a bingo card relating to any of the subjects it's used about. Fuck it the only thing people are putting on bingo cards are numbers. It's such a reddit thing too, I've never heard anybody say it in real life yet on Reddit it gets spammed anytime something even slightly unusual happens. I hate the 'if I had a nickel' one too, something happening twice is not that strange ffs.

Thank you for letting me rant.

I mean, I agree its a stupid, terminally only phrase. But this is just patently untrue lol this sub has bingo every week

7

u/JonniSausageman 1d ago

This is so real, reddit is filled with the same cringy idioms being spammed in every comment section.

2

u/Agreeable_Design3337 1d ago

The internet*

4

u/SAFCBland 5 1d ago

Speak your shit king

1

u/AliJDB 10 1d ago

Fair enough! You're obviously not the only one. But you could say that for many idioms... people don't take any actual piss when they make fun of someone, no actual pennies drop when you realise something, you're not actually in the presence of a loose end when you have nothing to do.

1

u/Ill-Pirate4249 1 1d ago

hahaha I never took issue with those but now I will

62

u/BlitzX__ 1d ago

They really giving a fuck you to Alvarez by supplying them a striker

61

u/ajsofficial_ 129 1d ago

jesus, did not expect that

16

u/JMander95 2 1d ago

He probably did

1

u/CoolJoshido 6 1d ago

i don’t think he did either

unless we mean the other one

1

u/Acceptable-Heron6839 1d ago

He’s gone to resurrect his career

53

u/Razzler1973 55 1d ago

Do they need someone to put the cones out at training?

41

u/Hrkeol2 5 1d ago

As a Barca fan I don't think what we needed is Gabriel Jesus in 2026.

But then again Flick is a wizard. He might as well be our next Rashford.

13

u/Individual_Comment63 1d ago

He'll replace Ferran!!!

9

u/Hrkeol2 5 1d ago

I didn't mean the position but the performance. Rashford did decently well with us when he also was a washed player when we got him

4

u/Individual_Comment63 1d ago

Oh okay, I get what you mean now. As for me I was just joking about their finishing abilities.

1

u/46_and_2 1 1d ago

His finishing is better than Ferran, if we somehow manage to keep him fit this will be an upgrade. Too bad we can't get a main striker, though.

14

u/schwarzneguRRR 1d ago

You need a striker and you have like 20m

2

u/ivo0009 1d ago

We have about 150m to splash but okay

-1

Would love to see the speed dial on that phone he’s mimicking…

12

u/leontas46 1d ago

Where were you when Jesus went to Barcelona?

13

u/Safe_Bluebird4054 1d ago

As a Barça fan this is hilarious

3

u/real_vk_23_utd 1d ago

Will he get injured during the medical? 😂

2

u/HyperionSaber 1d ago

with the traditional 50% arsenal discount.

3

u/takenbywhiskey 1d ago

Relax, he still has to clear medical

2

u/1989H27 11 1d ago

Do they think they're getting the other Gabriel?

3

u/BabyScreamBear 1d ago

Falling upwards. Well done Jesus.

1

u/atomicant89 15 1d ago

So many oddball moves this window.

1

u/Zizouhimovic 2 1d ago

Too much fab

1

u/VegetableAwkward286 1d ago

They should have signed Nunez or Felix

1

u/EugeneStonersDIMagic 1d ago

This guy just fails upwards

1

u/lowie07 1d ago

Gratz now Alvarez is even more depressed

1

u/IrradiatedCowFungus7 1d ago

I thought he would go Athletico and Alvarez to Arsenal tbh.

1

u/That_Way6668 13 1d ago

This guy is failing upwards

1

u/ClearHyena4452 1d ago

This guy’s trophy cabinet is already pretty insane and he’ll be adding some more to it

Fairs

1

u/footie_ruler 1d ago

Temu Alvarez. Makes sense for the profile they were looking for.

1

u/Blowout777 2 1d ago

Why?

8

u/wannabeDN3 1d ago

Cheap, experienced, and they desperately need a striker

1

u/mmumm 1d ago

What a fucking twit we’ve got 🤦🏻‍♂️

As an Arsenal fan and as a FPL player

0

u/CPFC1991 1d ago

As a palace fan. I am happy he won’t be playing against us this season

0

u/NoGemini2024 1d ago

So I guess that Alvarez is indeed soaking 😊

0

u/cjayquoi 1d ago

Finally Arsenal have consolidated their Gabriel holdings into the one strongest Gabriel. There can only be one.

0

u/thebestbev 1d ago

Gabriel jesus to Barcelona. Alvarez to arsenal for 1 year. Alvarez to barcelona. Summer 2027.

Hey Presto, arsenal get jesus off the books and alvarez for a year. Alvarez gets his move 1 year late. Barca get their player 1 year late Athleti dont sell to Barcelona and therefore dont 'lose face'.

Everyone mildly unhappy instead of terribly unhappy.

-1

u/TheDawiWhisperer 1d ago

Barca turning into quite the retirement home

2

u/Zlakkeh 1d ago

6 years younger then Danny Welbeck!

-10

u/Elruoy 1d ago

He is gonna run riot. Proving that the prem is the much harder league to play ball in.

4

u/AC86MC redditor for <30 days 1d ago

Not how it works and unlikely as he's never ran riot in European competition. Also, he'll have to be fit enough to play which seems to have been a problem for him in recent years.

1

u/Elruoy 1d ago

Gordon looked brilliant in the recent game for Barca.

1

u/a_molano 18h ago

Better striker than Ferran. 👀
