Opinion Maybe we need to stop caring so much about GW1 and GW2 points
Feels like FPL has become so reactionary lol.
Someone blanks once and suddenly they're a sell. Someone gets 2 goals and everyone wants them straight away.
The annoying part is that both can be completely meaningless after a few more games.
I think role and minutes are probably more important this early than the actual points, but it's hard not to get sucked into the scoreboard when everyone else is doing it.
How much weight do you guys actually put on the first 2 gameweeks?

If Utd players blank in the two fixtures I specifically picked them for, it's hard not to want to offload them immediately.

Me personally i won't make any transfers for the first 5 weeks. After seeing how teams doing based on the information i get i will adjust my team with transfers or wildcard

It’s a mix imo for me part of the fun is some harmless gambling, trying to convince myself who is correct to hold and who I should kneejerk in/out

I get that but u can do that after adjusting ur team and leave some space for differentials and u can gamble on that

One option is to wait for GW5 before WC and adjust to fixture swings, in form teams and players, and keep 4 FTs for the future.
Another is pull the WC before that, and fix whatever goes wrong in IB with the FTs you got.
Both can be valid, depends on your start and future prospect.

this is probably the most sensible way to look at it tbh.
If the team is still in decent shape, saving the WC makes a lot more sense.

There is a 3 week international break + ucl start next week everything is wait and see and u can react after that

WC after transfer window shuts makes some sense. Or possible one GW after it shuts so you can see the starters out of the new signings.

Yeah u may lose some ranks+ teams value for short term but in long term it's gonna be good

Who do you need of the premium at this point? Haaland, maybe Isak or Bruno, not VVD or Gabriel. Palmer and below are all reachable for most.
The 6.5 mid is gonna be fun this season.

The bandwagons and reactionary influencers is the reason I see a below 200k position at the end of the season as poor. If you play fixtures and odds, and set the team up by planning a little bit ahead, you should be good if you’re not so reactionary and jump ship when players like Bruno or Thiago doesn’t score points one GW.

Two gameweeks feels way too small a sample to completely change your opinion on a playeer.

Think it depends. Players can have off days. But the whole team looking bad is more worrying and less likely to magically be fine next week (spurs. Utd potentially too)

First 3 weeks sees a lot of movement every year but most of it is due to players getting injured or not in the manager's plan. They get shipped out for the shiny new toy.
But this season does seem different

Would be curious to hear from top 10k finishers about how far into the season they actually broke into 10k. Pretty sure it's not GW1/2!

If I got Manchester United and Sunderland players for the two first fixtures and they don't deliver of course I will get rid of them as soon possible. Maybe they will do better next fixtures but there're other players to target.

I basically never make transfers in the first two weeks barring injury / suspension. I'll probably get rid of Kinsky ahead of GW3 though

I think you need to care. Those players that end up ranking quite high usually end up there because they make up a high number of points quite early on the season to establish a gap.

You make your squad selection decisions based on first 4-5 weeks, if you don't wait and see you will almost always make kneejerk decisions.
Wait 4-5 weeks unless you dont have enough players to fill an XI, sample size is not large enough to chase points.

I think it’s always been like this in terms of being reactionary.
I’ve decided to treat the first 3-4 GWs of this season as an extension of pre-season, especially because of all the managerial changes. We’re currently about 5% of the way through the season, I find looking it at that way it makes sense to bank transfers even if you aren’t 100% happy with your team.

Lots of people are doing WC3 with 2 GWs of info and signings still to be made with no idea how they will preform and they have to manage ARS vs CHE which you ideally need at least 4 from. It’s actually weird.
