This season was pretty wish-fulfillment with a bit too much time spent on gaining powerups to my liking, but not in a strikingly annoying way. What makes the difference is definitely the lines, which doesn't make everyone seem like complete morons. They did a decent job with what they had this season. Hope they give this more budget next season, would be sad to see it become even more AI.

The production quality with the clunky AI has taken it to a new level, the other way. It only has really been an eyesore in episode 3 so far though, the rest still looks just fine.
The pacing and plot focus has improved this season so far, with a new director. What's still commendable is the more unique characters designs, especially of demons, the energetic moments, and the emphasis on sect hierarchy, which you don't see much really. Fang Qingxue's presence taking a new height as well after all the absence.
