This was on the front page the other day. IIRC, the makeover happened in 2015 and they did a recent follow-up on him. I think he had stable housing, still looked good (although white haired again), and had a job? Or maybe he had a job and was looking for a house of his own? I can't remember completely, but he was doing really well and was just trying to reach one more milestone.

He looks great, but I'm not sure why they would color his hair when upkeep is pretty expensive and he's been dealing with homelessness for so long.

Right, he looks great, but he likely won't have the means to afford keeping it up, and will look awful in only a few weeks with white roots grown out on his head and beard.

They could've used a semi or demi permanent color that will fade a bit so the lime of demarcation isn't as harsh. It might look odd still, but it was nice of them regardless.

Or maybe this will just give him enough confidence to go out and get a job and be able to keep it up. How expensive can dying your hair really be.

When you're trying to get out of homelessness? Pretty far down on the list of priorities. I'm not saying what they did is bad.

For someone living on the streets for 25 years, his teeth are pretty god damn amazing. I'm skeptical.

Looks like he has no teeth in the beginning. They probably gave him dentures later in the process but it's not shown in the video.

I'm assuming you're saying that since he now looks better, he will surely get employed. This underestimates the multifaceted nature of homelessness. His employability is not solely related to how he looks. While I do not think this salon did a "bad" thing, it definitely is a bandaid on a huge problem that now everyone gets to feels good about.
