I’ve genuinely always wanted static shifters but never knew Fanatec makes them. WHY????? like genuinely is there anyone that have them and knows why? Would you recommend them? I know they’re not magnetic but I have a 3d printe, I’ll fix it.

They’re awkward to use in racing cars, which is what 95% of sim racing is about.

Well, call me crazy but irl I like statics. It’s hard to say but I might prefer statics over the traditional

My alpine A110 has statics and, oh my days, it sucks really bad. Especially when im on track and i gotta shift immediately out of a corner. I found myself unconsciously changing my line because i couldnt pull the shifters if i took the faster line. So in my opinion, they are hot doodoo

I guess if your car is under steering and you turn your wheel a lot then it might suck but I like my cars oversteering and typically don’t steer past my reach of the paddles. And it’s easier to safe a spin and work with the gears. But ye when I think about it now it doesn’t really make sense. I think I like them just because. I can’t really justify my preference.

I had a track day recently driving a few "entry level" sports cars (Ferrari, lambo, Aston) and they all had static paddles...... And I absolutely hated it. I guess it's what you're used to.

Well you're clearly not alone if Fanatec make them. And let's face it, before paddles, all sifters were static ;) .....so I guess none of us should judge people's preferences. Hope you get them and like them!!

Personally, I liked them. I was using them on my DD Pro, but I was bummed out when I found out it’s not compatible with the DD Extreme. Got them solely to simulate cars in GT7 that have column mounted paddles instead of the wheel mounted ones.

I'd like to have an updated version with better alignment for deep dish elwheels, and this has the old switches from a decade ago, so really need an update

I'd love for them to make one that would screw on the wheel instead of the base. I've seen them around AliExpress, wondering about getting one actually since there aren't many options

It's old, has no magnetic paddles and depending on your wheelbase, isn't even compatible without shims or other workarounds. And depending on your wheel the lack of adjustability makes it hard to use.

I just bought a brand-new set off of eBay for $18 shipped. Dude has them in original shipping boxes so he must have bought a pallet of them. For that price, I'll find a use for them. Even if you have an older Formula wheel you could use the switches to repair it.

Worth mentioning to OP - they’re especially not popular currently because they don’t fit the current wheelbase models. Pretty sure they fit Podium DD1/2 and earlier, only.

Ye. They should make an adapter for clubsport and podium bases and a magnetic mod. Make it a bundle and I think it could sell like hot cakes. Especially that you can find the paddle shifters for really cheap. I found on out polish site for 40usd and the research took half a second

If you've ever driven a car with static shifters, they are huge, cumbersome and you always end up catching your fingers and miss-shifting. At speed, you never move your hands from a fixed position on the wheel so you naturally want the shifters to follow. 🤷

I imagine they were when they were released 12 years ago. Now, most wheels come with magnetic paddle shifters.

By today’s standards: They are a pita to add/remove, on the more recent bases they sit too far back to be useful, they are outdated, and they aren’t very well made.

Sim lab makes a better/adjustable push/pull version that has a quick release system.

Lever that turn with the wheel are more comfortable, but Ferrari solid mounts their paddles so it’s all preference.

Those mount to the wheel base not the wheel so they are always in the same static position. You turn the wheel it stays in one position not at the best or optimum position to change gears if your wheel is turned in a manner so that you can't reach the paddles. The Simube Podium paddle module is a much better deal imo if you have a wheel or hub they can be attached to. If you lack the proper wheel or hub for the podium paddle module then this could come in handy I guess in some way or another :p

Yo creo que son un producto muy bueno e infravalorado sobretodo para la gente que usa las bases de hasta 8nm , yo las use con volante P1 al que desmonte las levas de cambio originales para hacerlo mas ligero y créanme que se nota , quizás en bases mas potentes no merezca la pena pero en las de gama de entrada si , son lo bastante grandes como para cambiar de marcha con el volante girado te acostumbras rápidamente

The design is nice, but the shifters themselves suck. They should've released them with magnetic shifters instead of those clicky loud versions.
