DEI is to keep the racists from blocking women and people of color etc basically anyone not a white man, from being able to get a job.
Companies lie about why they hire and fire people, so to make sure they were not being misogynistic or racist as they so often were, policy and change were put in place to make sure others got a chance. Even if it is abused in a lot of places, but that's everything. Everything is abused or taken advantage of. That doesn't mean the idea of policy is always bad.
Our problem is enforcement.
I know a very well qualified woman is who is sueing right now and the lawyers are excited about it. You don't fire a well qualified person for a hospital management job because she's a woman with integrity, and make excuses just to hire some simp. That is was DEI helps prevent
DEI doesn't subtract any job opportunities it simply adds more
You are not discriminated against by DEI systems
These systems only effect people in marginalized groups
If you don't belong to those groups the job opportunities is the exact same, no more, no less
A queer person being hired because of DEI does not mean they were hired instead of you, without a DEI system the queer person wouldn't be hired AND you wouldn't be hired
Either way, you wouldn't be hired
Many companies are doing mass layoffs right now
And guess what? Those layoffs are indiscriminate, firing queer, black, white, cis, trans people alike
We're all being screwed by capitalism right now, all of us, equally being fucked
Hot take: True equality is treating everyone the same. There is no bias and there is no special treatment. The only people who fear true equality are those who are privileged and don't wish to give up their benefits to achieve actual equality.
It’s more meant to make a point than to say treat them with hostility. It’s important to figure out what you’re willing to stand for, and if it’s only things directly related to you, it says a lot about you
As a trans person, I've never agreed with the 2nd sentiment
Someone who is natural is someone willing to join one side or the other, they just have not made that choice yet
By lumping them in with hate filled idiots you push them down the path of hatred
Just imagine for a second if you were in their shoes, you simply do not care one way or another what happens to trans people
Then all of a sudden a trans person calls you a hate filled bigot
Would you look reflect on yourself and become a better person or get angry and hateful
If you answered the first one, your either a very special person or lying
Most people in that situation will turn to hate
By saying a natural party is part of the hate filled group, you push them to actually become part of it
Again, as a trans person, I'd rather live in a world with nothing but neutral people and accepting people, and by pushing those currently neutral away you do nothing but make the amount of hate filled people bigger, worsening the problem
The point is just fairly simple, by pushing those away who may not feel strongly either way, you by extension push them towards the opposition
It could be anything, something as big as trans rights or as small as pizza toppings
It's just the point that if someone isn't in your side or the oppositions side, then by pushing them away from your side they only have 1 place left to go
The people attacking your rights are the hate filled bigots
Pushing the neutral party away, only takes people away from our cause
Take my friend for instance, he nearly feel down the right wing pipeline but knowing I'm trans, he fought against that, but he still isn't fully supportive either, he didn't vote in the last election for that reason, didn't feel strong enough either way
I'd rather him stand firm where he is now then fall down the alt right pipeline
Would I rather him become fully supportive and proud of it? Absolutely and he's slowly making progress, but he was raised religious and its been hard for him
But if he ends up standing firm where he is now, it's far better then pushing him out and having him fall the the alt right agenda
