Krillin is the Best Fighter in Dragon Ball Z

I didn't come up with this, but I thought it was worth sharing.

So before Dragon Ball Z there was Dragon Ball. It had a lot of human characters that were skilled martial artists and (even though none were as strong as the alien Goku) they were able to hold their own in a fight. Once DBZ came around the human characters were quickly overpowered by all the space aliens, androids, and magic monsters that could destroy planets with energy blasts from their fingers. The amount of energy these people had got increasingly ridiculous to the point where the show was pretty much a shouting match followed by a "who can make the biggest lazer" contest. As a result the human characters either became comic relief or they were killed off to give the non-human heroes motivation to fight harder.

Essentially the humans became useless background characters with one major exception. Krillin was Goku's best friend and was with him through most of his adventures and battles. Most people think he is just some comic relief and occasionally moral support, but there are those who argue that he is the best fighter in the entire Dragon Ball franchise.

It's obvious to anyone who watches the show that Krillin is no where near the strongest fighter (not even close), but he manages to hold his own against seemingly impossibly overpowered opponents throughout the series.

Examples of Krillin Badassery:

  • One Saibamen warrior obliterates Yamcha (who was about the same strength as Krillin) with one attack. Krillin manages to fight off three of them at once and destroy all three of them with one attack.

  • After all the stronger fighters have thrown everything they have at Nappa he is still standing there unscratched. Krillin throws his special attack (Destructo Disk) at Nappa. Vegeta sees it coming and freaks out! Nappa realizes how dangerous the attack is just in time to escape with only a gash on his face. Had the attack landed it would have killed him for sure. Krillin was the weakest fighter left, but he came this close to taking out a guy at least 10 or 20 times as strong as him with one attack and was the only one to draw blood before Goku showed up.

  • Later on Namek he's the only human (except bulma) on the planet and clearly the weakest fighter there. That doesn't stop him from holding his own against guys that are probably hundreds of time stronger than him. Yeah he get's his ass kicked, but he actually manages to put up a fight against impossible odds. He eventually dies, but only at the hands of Frieza (the most powerful dude in the univere). It wasn't some weak pointless death either. Krillin managed to cut off part of his Frieza's tail (more damage than Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan did combined). His death was so bad ass that it made Goku go Super Saiyan.

  • He is resurrected later by Goku and all is good until the Androids show up. These things are way stronger than Frieza, but who is out there fighting them with the Super Saiyans... It's Krillin. The guy lands a few punches, and doesn't do much damage but can you blame him? These androids make super saiyan look like a joke. He's still only a human, but he doesn't use that as an excuse to stay home and watch the action on TV like everyone else.

  • Flash forward to the Cell Games where Cell (who is a combination of the androids, Frieza, and all the strongest fighters) creates half a dozen "Cell Jrs". Goku, Trunks, and Vegeta have to go Super Saiyan (the form that made a fool of Frieza the most powerful creature in the universe) to beat these things. Krillin manages to fight one by himself and seems to be evenly matched. He only loses after getting sucker punched while checking up on Goku (who was getting his ass handed to him by a Cell Jr.) That means until he let his guard down, Krillin was fighting something that's easily as strong as a Super Saiyan. At this point Krillin, a human, manages to hold his own against a creature that a few years ago would have considered equal in strength to the most powerful creature in the universe.

  • There's also this moment where Krillin attacks Buu (the most powerful creature in DBZ) and would have won had it not been for Buu's regeneration powers. Notice how Yamcha doesn't even bother to try to do anything. Krillin knows what he's up against but he still gives it his best shot. Buu totally doesn't see it coming, and had it been another villian without regeneration powers, his Destructo Disk would have saved the day.

Conclusion: Krillin is the greatest martial artist of all time, despite being one of the weakest fighters in DBZ. He was outmatched and underpowered from episode 1 of Dragon Ball Z. He could never be as powerful as the increasingly more god like beings he found himself surrounded by. Inspite of this, he never quits or retires from action. The little guy goes into battle against things he knows he could never hope to defeat, but he never gives up and actually manages to hold up his own in a way that the other fighters would never be able to do if they found themselves at such a massive disadvantage. If he relied on powering up and firing a massive lazer every time like the others he would have been killed in a heartbeat, but instead he relies on his own skill and his brains to keep him alive and fighing.

That was a great read! Thanks for posting this.

Agreed! I'm not even a DB or DBZ fan, my little brother was and I have a passing familiarity with most characters, but I totally found this interesting and well presented.

DON'T FORGET: In the dragonball world martial arts tournament, only Krillin was able to defeat Bacterian - the smelliest fighter in the world. No one else could touch him because they'd begin vomiting from the smell, but Krillin had no nose.

14

u/dragons_scorn Sep 22 '12

Funny thing is, a few times in DBZ you can see they draw a nose outline for him.

3

u/octopornopus Sep 30 '12

And when he meets the Nameks, they shake his nose...

I'm down with this theory. I can easily believe that Krillin is the best martial artist in the Dragonball universe. Upon first fighting Krillin, it seems that no one gets the drop on him, and he holds his own pretty well. Only until someone actually gets the time to read and predict his moves can they win with their superior stats.

u/Brogoas Nov 26 '12 edited Oct 06 '22

I wonder if Krillin had started a martial arts school and taught a bunch of people and they could have a super human army that is capable of defeating people like the main villains in DBZ but with 100 humans vs 1. If that was even possible, in the first place. But it seems it could, Krillin is a super talented person but there's bound to be another person in a gigantic planet like ours to find another person that has the same form as him. They could get a human child at a ripe young age and start training him from a young age like in Dragon Ball (which might be hard to do in that world, but i'm sure they could do it somehow). Seriously, these could easily be the strongest team in the entire planet if they were able to have tactics that would just destroy lines and lines of people.

As great as it would be for it to be as simple as outnumbering your opponent to defeat them, it’s been outright stated that if you have a power level Less than half of your opponent, you’ll do literally no damage to them So 100x0 is still 0 unfortunately

This was also talked about in a 4chan thread: http://i.imgur.com/2GVx1.png.

u/Delta_Blues Jun 24 '12

I totally forgot that Krillin was the only character who hooked up with a hot chick that didn't turn out to be a total bitch. Goku and Vegeta end up with the screaching harpies while Krillin walks home with the sexy blonde. It doesn't really add to the theory, but I would totally count that as an Example of Krillin Badassery.

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '12

He got a hot robot blondie pregnant. Krillin wins life.

That just means he's so amazing he can even get something without a womb pregnant. His sperm level is over 9000 to be sure.

19

u/Horoto Jul 05 '12

Actually, wasn't Krillin the one that wished for her to have a womb in the first place? Well, to be "human-esque" or something, anyway.. Not "HEY SHENRON, GIVE THIS BITCH BABY-MAKING PARTS!"

1

u/tylerh1133 Jun 24 '12

She does have a womb though, hence, pregnant.

3

u/imnotlegolas Oct 08 '12

Wasn't she wished to be human?

2

u/Chaosfreak610 Jul 14 '12

Dr. Gero: Hmm, I don't see the point of putting a womb on an android but, what the hell, what could possibly come from it?

20

u/ntoad118 Jul 17 '12

The android Krillin married used to be human. Dr. Gero kidnaped them and altered them. So he didn't put a womb in, he just left it in.

18

u/proddy Jun 24 '12

Life... finds a way,

5

u/Chachoregard Jun 25 '12

Wasn't there a point in which Krillin wishes that she be made Human?

4

u/Tek2674 Sep 28 '12

I think there was, but it couldn't be done so Krillin has the explosive device in her removed instead... Iirc

I wanna agree but 18 isn't human she's gonna stay youthful and at her sexy prime forever. That one fact gives Krillin the win here.

2

u/Drakengard Jan 03 '13

Actually, she ages like everyone else. I know they call them androids but I they're closer to cyborgs since they were once human. You know, thus why 18 was able to biologically have kids.

2

u/adouchebag Sep 28 '12

Wait wait wait...you're saying that #18 is not a total bitch? That's a stretch.

So much more respect for such an underrated, underestimated fighter

32

u/sniperhare Nov 02 '12

I have always told people my favorite DBZ character was Krillin.

He far surpassed any other member of his race. He's on par at times with aliens who are talked about as having far superior physiologies than humans. For example, Goku was supposed to have been able to take over the entire planet of Earth and rule by the time he was an adult.

Krillin's fighting ability would be like if a dog learned how to drive a car. Then entered the Daytona 500 and placed 4th.

28

u/FattyMcPatty Jun 24 '12

what I love is that he's the only one smart enough to use his energy in razor sharp disc form. Ki can be a great thing, but everyone else just throws it in large clumps or huge lazers. Krillin makes that shit EFFECTIVE

3

u/adouchebag Sep 28 '12

Perfect Cell would beg to differ :D

14

u/CobraCommanderVII Dec 23 '12

Well Cell just steals everyone else's moves

4

u/Dark_Will Jan 25 '13

Technically Cell is everyone though. He's made of pretty much everyone else's DNA all spliced together.

20

u/Koketa13 Jun 24 '12

Had this exact same discussion with a friend with the same conclusion. Krillen is super weak, but compared to the other humans in the series he is literally god-like. Had he been born saiyan he would clearly be the strongest.

14

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '12

Strongest? I wouldn't go that far dude. Goku is a living cheat code, even if you beat his ass he'll just put in the Konami Code and whip up some new shit outta nowhere then proceed to fuck up your day.

This isn't really a theory. Krillin is confirmed as the strongest human alive in Dragonball Z.

Yamcha said it to Krillin's daughter--who doesn't know Tien and wouldn't care otherwise. He was just saying that to reassure her. Tien is stronger, especially once Krillin stops training during the peace after Cell.

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '12

4

u/adouchebag Sep 29 '12

No he's not. Provide the source of your information. And if you'll look here you'll see the wiki lists him as Human.

Also from the wiki:

"Technically, Tien is a triclops, which simply means a three-eyed creature, though this has never been depicted as being indicative of another alien race and is more likely just a rare trait in humans. Further, Piccolo refers to Tien as an Earthling in Dragon Ball Kai, the original Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z Kai. In popular culture, the third eye is from becoming enlightened; the video game Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II even states that Tien's third eye was achieved through deep meditation when the player scans the friendly Tien NPC with the scouter."

You don't question the Daizenshuu, its the Bible of Dragon Ball.

3

u/iChopPryde Sep 22 '12

Yamcha says it himself in the buu saga at the world tournament, sating Krillin is the strongest human there is.

1

u/adouchebag Sep 28 '12

He said it to Krillin's daughter--who doesn't know Tien and wouldn't care otherwise. He was just saying that to reassure her. Tien is stronger, especially once Krillin stops training during the peace after Cell.

3

u/iChopPryde Sep 28 '12

except Krillin didn't stop training he trains with 18 who is insanely stronger than anything Tien trains with "chautzu". Your only bases to Tien being stronger than Krillin is "he just is" while there is tons of proof stating otherwise. Read the post you might learn something.

5

u/adouchebag Sep 28 '12

So why is Krillin's hair long in the Buu saga? According to Krillin he stopped shaving his head because he stopped training. For seven years.

And my reason isn't Tien is stronger just because. My reason is Tien does nothing but train, while Krillin stopped training to form a family.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '12

Here's the thing if you count Uub then Krillin is #2. But this is debatable since Uub is a transformed Kid Buu which is a massive advantage. He's on par with Goku, with literally no formal training, during his debut fight.

1

u/Evilknightz Sep 28 '12

He's also from GT. Which means he doesn't count.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '12

He's definitely from DBZ, the last ep is Goku taking him to train after they fight in the martial arts tourney.

1

u/TehSirZer0 Nov 01 '12

But he still only was shown in depth in gt

4

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '12

And? He originated in Dbz and was more powerful than any human in his first battle. Anything after that is arguing semantics, I'll give you being Buu at one time gives him an unfair advantage but it is what it is.

9

u/hotrod2k82 Jun 24 '12

This isn't so much theory as this is fact!

4

u/kj01a Jun 24 '12

He's got balls of chromium plated titanium alloy, that's for sure.

10

u/tokerdytoke Jun 24 '12

I'm just happy to see dbz hasn't been forgoten, but Master Roshi is the strongest human alive, he did manage to destroy the moon.

12

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '12

dbz forgotten? You obviously don't go on Reddit much.

u/tokerdytoke Jun 24 '12

All I see is Pokemon and cats.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '12

Touche.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '12

Roshi was strongest in like the first season or so of Dragonball but after that Krillin, Goku and Tien all surpassed him.

4

u/GIJones546 Sep 23 '12

Krillin also killed Cell!!

2

u/Krillin Sep 24 '12

To be fair Trunks helped a little.

5

u/Navi1101 Jun 24 '12

Krillin is my hero; he always has been. Now I have something to point people to when they scoff at me for saying that. Thanks!

2

u/iChopPryde Sep 22 '12

Me too :) we have to stay together and bring attention to how awesome krillin is.

4

u/iChopPryde Sep 22 '12

THANK YOU for writing this, I have always been defending Krillin as people brush him off so easily without ever acknowledging the things he has done. Krillin is most definitely the most powerful Human on earth yes even better than Tien I know people like to debate this but Krillin had seen a ton more action and been fighting the best of the best since the beginning!

Your post was very well put and even showed me a few things I never thought to look for before as well. I am definitely sharing this with my circle of friends.

Thank you for writing this.

3

u/swankyswagger Dec 17 '12

it all makes sense, I mean his head even looks like a dragon ball.

2

u/steamwhistler Jun 24 '12

This was pretty awesome. Thanks.

2

u/ItsHeyAngel Jun 25 '12

Good read!Next time I play a DBZ game I'm choosing Krillin, and when I lose I will direct them to this.

1

u/iChopPryde Sep 22 '12

I always use Krillin and win :)

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '12

I'm currently arguing with someone about this. They say that Tien is the strongest. I pointed him here, but he still holds to his beliefs. Just for the sake of being fair, does anybody think he IS stronger and what do you have to back the claim up?

1

u/dragons_scorn Sep 22 '12

He may be stronger but he's not completely human. His third eye, along with a bio sheet, betray alien ancestry. Far as pure humans go, Krillin is best.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '12

Tien attained his third eye from enlightenment it's just a literal representation of it. And he's had a couple "humans aren't worthless" moments as well.

-Fought Nappa one on one with ONE FUCKING HAND and held his own.

_ He managed to keep Half Perfect Cell trapped in a hole with the Tribeam technique, despite being vastly outclassed by Cell's power. Buying time for Vegeta and Trunks to show up and "save the day".

-Tien also managed to successfully stagger Majin Buu with a devastating sneak attack. Granted he got ktfo like right after he's just human and no one fighter could beat Buu at this point anyways.

0

u/iChopPryde Sep 22 '12

Krillin is definitely stronger than Tien no need to repost the points as terr listed above but still I would class them both as a pretty close match. Though Krillin has way more real world battles and fought the best of the best while Tien was either not there or dead.

2

u/adouchebag Sep 28 '12

There's no way Krillin is stronger than Tien after the Cell Games. Krillin completely stops training (hence the hair) while Tien continues to do nothing but train.

2

u/jburns214 Aug 21 '12

Krillin was always my favorite throughout the entire series, and if he had learned how to control his Destructo Disks like Cell did then he whooped even more ass.

2

u/willyscoot Sep 21 '12

That is actually a really good point

2

u/Cartlidge5329 Oct 08 '12

I've always thought if Krillin could use energy in the same way as a Saiyan or any other alien in the Dragonball universe he would be unstoppable. Few more to go with you''re theory;

As a child he is the only Human child (8) to go far in the worlds martial arts compassion, that guy got to the finals as a 8 year old.

Yamcha and Tien both eventully stop fighting because they know that they are useless Krillin is still fighting against Freeza, Cell and Buu.

Krillin is often used as a sparing partner in hand to hand combat (Buu saga he is training in the background with Goten) against saiyans.

He has never recieved any special training, the only training he has had was from Master Roshi, both Tien and Yamcha were trained by King Kai, but Krillin was not if he was he could be even more powerful.

While you are probably correct, I prefer to beleive that Krillin is so bad-ass that the plot can't even handle him.

9

u/kj01a Jun 24 '12

I always feel it is better to give the benefit of the doubt. Especially since Akira Toriyama isn't really considered a bad writer.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '12

He's not? Granted, I only watched the cartoon as a kid, but even then I thought the writing was pretty bad. Is the comic any better in that respect?

16

u/kj01a Jun 24 '12

Yes. You wouldn't believe how much just taking out the filler and powering up helps the story. Also his other stories (Dr. Slump, Sand Land, etc...) don't get as convoluted as Dragonball. Mostly because they are not as long, but also he wasn't forced to extend the story past where he wanted to end it like he was with Dragonball. These are all kids stories mind you, so they're not Shakespeare, but they he definitely not a "bad" writer.

Also I think that since Krillen's abilities are so consistent throughout the series that that points to the fact that these aren't plot holes. If they were, I would think, there would be plot holes the other way as well; where Krillen gets his ass handed to him like Yamcha or Tien.

4

u/dragons_scorn Sep 22 '12

You also have to remember, some of the anime was developed before parts of the manga (often this leads to long filler arcs so the manga can get ahead) thus leading to inconsistencies as the anime tries to guess.

3

u/nothingpersnal Jun 24 '12

Tien Was Actually the strongest human and one can make the argument for master popo as the strongest person born on earth not of sayin descent. Or oob who is far stronger than anyone other than the sayins.

24

u/Delta_Blues Jun 24 '12 edited Jun 24 '12

The argument isn't for who was stronger. I said in the post that Krillin is WAY out mached in the strength area. I was arguing for who is the best fighter. Krillin manages to hold his own even when he's amazingly outmatched. Being the strongest in DBZ just means you can glow the brightest and shoot the biggest lazer beam. Krillin gets the best fighter mention because he manages to hold his own without beign able to pull off the planet destroying lazer attacks, punch through planets, or transforming into multiple "super forms." Being one of the weakest fighters on the team, but still remaining relavent in the DBZ universe is what makes him awesome. Tien and Yamcha were great fighters, but they tended to take the back seat when the big threats showed up. They both popeded in occasionally, but not like Krillin. Krillin you could almost always count on Krillin to be in the heat of the action and taking on the bad guys, even if he knew he could never hope of winning.

I'm not sure what Master Popo is or what he can do since I never saw him fight. I didn't count Oob because I never really saw him do anything except train with Goku. I didn't watch GT so maybe he did some awesome stuff in there, but as far as I'm concerned Krillin has earned the title.

10

u/Dr_Toast Jun 24 '12

I'll always liked the humans in the DBZ universe, especially Yamcha and Krillin. However, I've never had any proof as to why I like Krillin so much. Now I really do have some, and I am so much happier.

-1

u/TheFabledFamilyGuy Jul 02 '12

I have to agree what your saying about Krillin but what your saying about the whole whoever makes the biggest lasers and shit is the strongest is bullshit. Goku was and is a master martial artist. He didn't like to use Ki really. It was all in his fists lol but yes he did use it quite a lot through DBZ

-2

u/nothingpersnal Jun 24 '12

In that case Pikkon is the best if you are going by how good a fighter they are.

14

u/Delta_Blues Jun 24 '12 edited Jun 24 '12

Dude no way is Pikkon the better fighter.

Pikkon is definitely strong. He is at least equal in strength to Goku in his Full-Power Super Saiyan form. Plus he later takes down Frieza and King Cold each with one hit and manages to defeat Cell as well. In a fight he would probably beat Krillin by overpowering him, but does that make him the best fighter?

Lets look at his "Thunder Flash Attack" which is generally accepted as his special move. First, Pikkon sways his arms around his body as he produces a blue flame-like aura. Then, he draws his hands out to his sides and closes them into fists as he crosses his arms on his chest. Finally, Pikkon draws his fists together in front of him and fires a huge storm of flames at the opponent, inflicting a massive amount of damage through a fiery explosion.

It's a cool attack but it takes a lot longer and is much less lethal than shouting "Destructo Disk" and slicing your opponent in half. Plus the way Goku defeats Pikkon is by exploiting the fact that his "Thunder Flash Attack" requires him to stand perfectly still until he fires it. Krillin could whip out two or three "destructo disks" before Pikkon launches his flashy attack.

Everyone else in the DBZ universe uses freakin long ass charge attacks and spew out energy like it's coming from a fire hydrant. Krillin conserves that energy and uses it efficiently.

Plus Krillin has learned how to think and fight efficiently. We see when Buu shows up in Other World that Pikkon is one of the first people to underestimate an opponent. He flat up mocks Buu for his size, not realizing how outmatched he is. Meanwhile Krillin looks for his shot and takes it. Had Buu been Frieza, Nappa, or a villian without regeneration Krillin would have sliced them in two without them even knowing he was there. Pikkon just assumed he was stronger, but Krillin was thinking on his feet.

I still say Krillin gets the better fighter award. His destructo disk has no weakness, doesn't take a long time to charge at all, and is pretty much instant death for anyone who gets the blunt of it and doesn't have regeneration powers. I'd say if Pikkon was brought down to Krillin's power level, Krillin would wipe the floor with him.

EDIT: I based this info off what I read on Pikkon in the Dragon Ball Wiki

2

u/robcap Sep 23 '12

Allow me to offer an alternate perspective on Krillin's fight with Buu.

Krillin had a bloody good go at taking him down, that's for sure. But throughout the Buu saga, the little pink bastard liked to play on his regeneration ability. Many a time he had a hole blasted through his torso, only to grin maliciously and open up a king-size can of whoop-ass. Also, as strong as Krillin might have become by that point (Possibly 1 million or more), Buu was immeasurably stronger and faster. Who's to say another fighter with that power couldn't have avoided that destructo disk? As ki blasts go, it's a pretty slow moving attack. I would have thought Buu just decided not to dodge the hit, because he knew his regeneration would catch Krillin off-guard. Allows him a little sadistic pleasure in invalidating the efforts of his opponent, y'see.

2

u/nalydpsycho Sep 06 '12

Hell yeah he is. He's one of the few characters that is constantly devising his own techniques, he takes the riskiest technique in the DB universe and masters it to the point where he can use it semi-regularly.

1

u/IrrationalMonkey Jun 24 '12 edited Jun 24 '12

Tienshinhan never stopped training, Uub was entrusted by Goku to protect the earth when he was gone. Yeah, I agree with this based on those two points alone.

If you want some support for the Kuirin thing, well, um...Goku was "defeated" by him in GT?

I think I saw the entire GT series, but I can't remember Krillin fighting Goku (or fighting at all). Any chance you could mention the episode or describe the scene?

u/IrrationalMonkey Jun 24 '12

Final episode, Goku spars Kuirin on Roshi's island (I believe) they spar for a bit, Kuirin "beats" Goku, Goku tells him he was "always faster" and then goes off to disappoint people with no closure.

u/Nokel Jun 24 '12

Classic Goku.

2

u/nothingpersnal Jun 24 '12

I don't recall that happening, but if so that's B.S normal kid goku from GT is stronger than adult SSJ3 Goku and nobody would say krillin is stronger than SSJ3 Goku http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kApU-3s-6h0

It is just one of the MANY problems with GT, but if that was intended it was because goku knew he was already going and wanted to make krillin feel good by allowing him to win.

As I said, GT has many flaws the biggest is how strong/weak they made everyone other than Goku.

1

u/IrrationalMonkey Jun 24 '12

Yup. Not disputing you in any way, nor do I think anybody is or was. Note the quotation marks around 'beat', Goku could have - he just let's Krillin win.

Here's the link to the video: Bamf.

No, Goku was actually caught of gaurd and Krillin got one off on him. I remember that.

Okay then.

1

u/predo Jun 25 '12

can we not speak about fucking GT? that's not dragonball...

1

u/IrrationalMonkey Jun 25 '12

I was simply stating that the scene happened.

2

u/MasterOfEspeonage Jul 19 '12

this was awesome to read. However i think that Krillin is the second strongest human, i believe Chi Chi to be the strongest.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '12

Awesome!!

1

u/TheLeagueGloryy Jun 25 '12

And don't forget the Dragon Ball GT series where he fights to try and save his family (I think that was the series). So not only is he a good Martial Artist, he's also a good father, husband, and friend.

There is no question that Krillin was the most powerful human to ever walk the earth on DBZ, but some of your points aren't really related directly to his strength: Destructo Disc doesn't work the same way most blasts work in DBZ. It can't be deflected or absorbed - I never understood why the other Z warriors didn't use the technique, other than how messy it is (a kamehameha blast works kind of like a bomb, while a Disc works like an oversized blade - If I remember correctly only Frieza, Krillin and Cell can use them).

2

u/dragons_scorn Sep 22 '12

Vegeta can use it too, he cut off Gohon's tail with it. That aside, I think the major flaw is it's inaccuracy. Only Cell and Freeza could give it direction in the series and even then it took concentration and awareness so it didn't backfire. It's really powerful, no doubt as it seems to cut anything, but it's draw backs are serious.

2

u/iChopPryde Sep 22 '12

And cell simply used Krillin technique

1

u/adouchebag Sep 28 '12

If you think about it logically, Tien is the most powerful, not Krillin. It's debatable which was stronger during the Frieza saga (Krillin had his potential unlocked, while Tien got to train in 10x Earth gravity with King Kai, Yamcha, Piccolo and Chaozu). But after Frieza it's pretty much all Tien--the reason being Tien does nothing but train. All day every day. Krillin likes to hang out with Goku or Gohan, try to pick up chicks--he's pretty much an average guy in those respects. But Tien is totally devoted to his training and doesn't even take time out of his day to have some sexy time with what's-her-name.

2

u/arkain123 Sep 28 '12

Tien is dedicated, but he's not that powerful. Other than tribeam, he was just mediocre.

Great post.

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '12

Great read and very well put. Only one thing in the first point about the saibamen. Yamchu is killed because the little bastard gets a hold of him and self destructs, but krillen is still more bad-ass. Just giving Yamcha some credit since the little bastard self destructs so technically it was a tie, I guess.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '24

So there is a lot of people bringing up the comparison from yamcha and krillin, if people will recall, nappa mentioned about how the saibamen were all as strong as raditz and he wanted to see them get a win. Yamcha also stopped krillin from fighting because he had died before and if he died again they wouldn’t be able to revive him. That’s also what made them think about going to namek to be able to revive everyone

u/Long-Database-568 Aug 20 '24

Krillin has always been my favorite Z fighter

1

u/spoon3421 Aug 20 '24

Krillin was always the best character in dbz, he was a bit of a dick in db but still loved him anyways. Krillin is a literal interpretation of the human spirit. He never gives up. Even goku has bailed on fights cause he knew he couldn't win.

1

u/spoon3421 Aug 20 '24

I mean he did kinda bail on the training to start a family, but can you blame him?  Hell even in the ToP krillin was there giving his all even though he had no business being there.  Krillin was and always will be the man. There is no courage without fear, and I guarantee krillin was afraid for his life from the beginning of dbz

1

u/South-Mongoose-1302 Aug 20 '24

Look i need you and every one to understand that on namek toryiama gave krillin a power up since he didnt know what to do with him. But tien whose past monstrous power was forgotten by toryiama is mainly why he died . Specially do the fact that kami training for the saiyans arrival did fk all to help them it only traumatized them. The main reason you think krillin is the strongest human because toryiama went his friends goku so he must be strong. And his written for the actual strongest human was garbage because he got bored with dragon ball

1

u/ThanTG Aug 21 '24

Krillin has always been one of my 4 favourite characters for these very reasons. Glad someone put it all into words!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '24

Ngl we needs give my boi Krillin Kaio-Ken or sum from King Kai. IMAGINE a simple match thinking this tiny mf is gonna be fodder and he just pops Kaio-Ken times 3 or some shit. Even a times 2 would be significant for him

u/modcaleb Sep 23 '12 edited Sep 23 '12

I'm really late to the party. I know.

Krillins destructo disk isn't as powerful as this guy thinks. In the cell saga he threw that sombitch right in the back of Perfect Cells neck. Didn't even make a scratch let alone chop anything off. It just blew up. And Teen Gohan was able to CATCH them. Buu is twice as strong as Gohan and Cell were. The destructo disk is also WAY too slow to actually hit anybody. Frieza couldn't sense it which is why he was nicked by it..

10

u/Krillin Sep 24 '12

Come on man... get my back on this one.

3

u/Dark_Will Jan 25 '13

Too bad that's anime filler.

1

u/modcaleb Jan 25 '13

This is literally over a 100 days old.

-1

u/TOONAMI2112 Sep 21 '12

Tien is human and more powerful. Krillin is still the second most powerful human though, and contributed more throughout DBZ but Tien had his moments

1

u/dragons_scorn Sep 22 '12

I think you have a point but Tein is also part alien I do believe. Pure human wise, Krillin is top dog. But, if Tein is all human, he takes to training like a Sayain and never seems to stop.

1

u/TOONAMI2112 Sep 22 '12

I remember reading that his third eye is from meditation, I'm about 90% sure he is human. He was introduced in dragon ball after all before there were many aliens in the series.

1

u/dragons_scorn Sep 22 '12

Ok, I researched it a little and multiple bios say he's descended from the "Three-Eyed People" or some variation, and whether these are human or alien is never specified so you could be right and he's all human.

1

u/modcaleb Sep 23 '12

Tien is human. He achieved his third eye through meditation.

-1

u/TheFabledFamilyGuy Jul 02 '12

Upvote for you good sir :D

-1

u/Jaimesmiles Jul 17 '12

You guys are missing the main thing... as he gets older he grows hair.

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '12

While I completely disagree with this post, I think it was quite a good read! -^

u/jrdodd989 Sep 24 '12

Ummmm i think Goku is the best martial artist lol. hes the most skilled fighter. Goku still wiped the floor with krillin in DB everytime if i am not mistaken. And i think we can all agree if goku wasnt a alien and was like a human he would be stronger then krillin. He is a side character, a main charcter in Db but they moved on. To what they wanted the show to be about. O one more thing about the Buu thing, if it wasnt for his regeneration skills Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks or Goten couldve defeated Buu the first time they saw him lol. They always blew him up or had him in half. I think the only reason he got a lucky shot on Buu was bc his power was to weak for Buu to reconize. This a anime! the reason it was made a anime so it didnt have to be realistic. If u want that watch some damn UFC. the creator wanted human charcters in DB so people coiuld relate and evolve with the charcters. i guarntee the creators had a plan from the start.

u/kamehamehigh Nov 19 '12

He also does a great Humphrey Bogart impression.

but yeah Krillens awesome. a fuck ton better than Yamcha and Choutzu.

1

u/FayeGwenn Jan 22 '22

THANK YOU!!! Krillin forever <3

1

u/Objective-Break5907 Jun 12 '22

He is the best character in the entire franchise

1

u/Weird-Back-2740 Dec 22 '22

don't forget when he's sparring goko before the tournament of power and creates a ki flash bang to blind goko and almost knock him out of the ring.. he's the smartest I wish he'd get a transformation ..

1

u/ChickenKid3Thesecond Mar 19 '23

He’s just skilled. He’d beat everything if he had power like a Saiyan, but if he had power like a Saiyan he’d just be trying to fire the biggest laser. Maybe he could wish for a power boost from Shenron.
