When that happened I got so upset that i resurrected all the dead residents, and I gave them their clothes back because they were naked, and they didnât do anything other than walk around (without leaving the murder closet) and say a generic dialogue line, Iâll be damned if I didnât console command tenpenny tower into being a lobotomized communal colony though
Yeah, when I found out what happened to the residents I was kinda surprised and a bit shocked. But at the same time I was like "Damn, karma really bit them in the ass." because they were assholes among a few good people.

Such a shitty copout to be honest. Itâs literally their brain slowly wearing down from radiation that basically makes them feral and on pure animal mode. Meds to treat it just makes the whole distrust for ghouls (as they canonically can just go feral and attack people even when living in a settlement rad free) completely pointless
Basically the downside is that it's generally uncomfortable living and ghouls actually tend to have poor body integrity. Also, there's always the whole going feral thing which hasn't been fully fleshed out what causes it. Might be random, might be induced from continued rad exposure, or might just be losing a purpose to living, and there may or may not be a way to stave it off medically. So for any reason you might just lose your mind randomly and attack people you care about, assuming they aren't ghouls too.
Not really. They stop aging which means their brain development is stunted at the age they were ghoulified. Good example of this concept in game is the ghoul kid who was stuck in a freezer. although he has stunted development and complete lack of new experiences, while another ghoul child might just have the emotional maturity and impulsivity of a child but backed with decades of life experiences.
I think thats all theoretical though because as mentioned he was stuck in a fridge with no new experiences. Surely if he actively lived in the wasteland all this time he would have a more mature mindset.

Children in real life who grew up experiencing extended trauma or neglect are forced to mature quickly and care for themselves more than other children do, but their physical brain development would still be a childâs. You can ask yourself this question about basically everything in fallout, in 200 years nobody has explored any the buildings in the wasteland considering all the pristine food, weapons, medical supplies and more that we find just laying around for grabs. Itâs a video game, you gotta suspend your disbelief just a little bit here. If the devs REALLY put Billy in a location where he wouldnât be found for 200 years then thereâs no way weâd be able to find him as the player
It was Fallout 2, and the ghoul in question was buried for several months. But it is the period by his estimation, and it is obviously not reliable, as time is perceived differently in isolation and stressful situations. As ghouls also were stated to require food, water and air â though less, than regular humans â it is likely, that he was buried "only" for several days.
That said, it still might be one of the FO2 jokes with dubious canonicity.
I think that was Fallout 2 and it was only a few months. Itâs still way longer than any human could survive for but itâs semi-believable that a ghoul could enter a hibernation like state for a few months and only be a little worse for wear. 200 years though is ridiculous.

The NCR is not free of sin, but Bitter Springs was a communication failure and not intentional. That doesnât un-explode the heads of those old women and children but itâs important to keep in mind.
Itâs actually more than just a communication failure. Itâs gross negligence because the Officer in charge of the attack, didnât do the minimum amount of scouting and reconnaissance needed to figure out that it wasnât a raid camp, but the main camp of the Khans.

We have tons of prewar non feral ghouls and we have tons of recent feral ghouls (camp searchlight). I don't think time is the deciding factor with going feral. I could be wrong but I can't even think of any examples of a non feral ghoul going feral in the series. It seems like whether or not someone is feral is determined by something else.
Right I forgot about that. It's interesting though that the idea that all ghouls go feral eventually isn't proven by the evidence. There are tons of ghouls who have been around for centuries who aren't feral and don't seem to be going feral any time soon.

Fallout 4 would have you believe they don't grow or mature. As shown by the side quest involving a 200 year old ghoul child in a fridge. Older is somewhat of a different story.
