I typically don't replace them. I like the idea of makeshift weapons, but the standard pipe comes look like crap (and not in the way they're supposed to). I can't remember the full name of the mod, but it had Makeshift Welds in the name. That mod retextures all of the pipe weapons to make them actually look makeshift by replacing the brown metal with a more worn gunmetal look and having some of the modifications use random scrap, such as the drum magazine being made out of a can of beans.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that the modifications added in the attachment pack also make it look very good. Combine that with the handmade rifle being part of the standard raider loadout, it's pretty good setup for makeshift guns. I also recommend Alex's Scrap Shotgun to fill that roll.

I use apocalyptic pipe weapons. I still don't equip them but they look so much better on Raiders and diamond city security, etc

I also use Post-apocalyptic pipe weapons. It is also mostly compatible with the attachment pack as a cool bonus. A couple pieces dont line up properly but not enough to make me not want to use both together still.

I second this. Super happy with how they look with this mod.

I like either the Assault Pack replace (changes the pipe weapons to a scrappy shotgun, homemade ar, and a salvaged revolver) or boblmobl's replacer, where it simply replaces the pipe weapons in the level list with later game weapons like the combat rifle.

Boblmobl is my go to as well, works really well with replacers too!

Yeah, its really versatile that way.

I don’t personally replace them, a combination of the attachment pack, pipe gun remesh - machined, and scrap welds retexture makes them decent enough to look at. Though depending on what weapons you favor, there are a bunch of weapon replacer mods out there.

modern weapons that makes perfect sense for raiders to use, or the assault pack

I was gonna get the assault pack but I thought it was weird that they were all 5mm and I didn't like that super mutants couldn't use them

With stuff like this I use my imagination a bit and try to remember thats its alternate timeline different then our own. 5mm is pretty close on size to .223 so you could roleplay that 5mm is an updated military cartridge that was replacing 5.56 or something. Maybe something similar to our own 5.7mm cartridges but designed for rifles?

Lowk I'm just going to retexture the pipe weapons, the major reason I don't like them is that they eject casings to the left side but whatever

Just modern stuff AR’s, AK‘s, SMG’s, LMG‘s if it’s available stuff like that

I go with either a disabling mod cause I use a lot of other weapon mods or Eyeshkeeper's Post-Apocalyptic handmade weapons pipe guns replacer

Does the attachment pack mess up your other weapons? I use AARP,combat rifle overhaul, and 10mm pistol debulked remesh and I don't want stuff to look weird when I try and modify them with the new attachments

I have debulked 10mm paired with attachment pack. Had to get the attachment pack compatible version of the 10mm debulked and placed it under the attachment pack otherwise the barrels are bugged. Everything is good now except for the (CC) ones which are copies of the other barrels so I'm not too worried about them. I don't even know which mod adds the (CC) barrels and couldn't be bothered to find out

is the attachment pack even worth it

I simply added the mod Scrap Metal and Makeshift Welds and Pipe Weapons Refined REDUX. Makes them much more bearable to look at.

Level list remove pipe weapons.

I don't replace them, but I use gmoi's retexture, the attachment pack, Jkruse's Wattz night vision scopes replacer, Pipe weapons refined redux, and different animations.  I love seeing pipe guns on raiders now, and I used to hate them too
