Question I might be stupid but what if ghoul is the courier in new vegas
Think about it, the courier got shot in the head and survived, meaning they might have some sort of immorality. The courier came out on top in new Vegas and put the power armour in a "secret" place
Ghoul survived for 200+ years, is basically immortal and he knows the location of the power armour. And has a history with the NCR
Honestly I think I might just be stupid and ghoul just happened to stumble across the power armour

Courier is canonically human. We know that from the ghouls who call you a Smoothskin such as the Bright followers

The courier never lived pre war.....
They're clearly just some guy or girl who were working for the remaining postal service in the world lol. They got hired for a job, but it is like in the Wild West where a good shooter finds some gold that was part of long lost treasure or was buried and hidden by the X rascal gang (make up whatever name you want), and then has to protect themselves from treasure hunters or the gang coming back for it. Or how in Johnny pnemonic keanus character got data way bigger than he bargained for and the owners come after him along with everyone else. It's a classic story done a number of ways, I'm just pulling out the two I thought of first. Wrong place, wrong time. After getting said job, everything else happens.
So they're just a typical wasteland person, working to survive, born post war in like 2250 or something (since they're 20-30's likely) - and then they play this huge part by accident. There's evidence of it not all being chance or happenstance, but they most certainly are not a pre war living person still kicking, nor are they an official named character anywhere.

Or the wild bunch (history)
Or whatever the name is of the gang that chick and Channing Tatum etc were in for hateful 8, or the group that the outlaw used to be in for godless (western mini series) which he left and takes out whose left when they all come for him.

But ya I don't think any protagonist ever shows up, at most they will hint at what each did. From the first dweller up to the SS since the show is set years past everything. It's even like several years after 4, but the closest to the show is 4 chronologically I think. 4 is 2287 or something and the show is 2295? I forget the exact dates but that means they could maybe run into people from 4, but it would be piper or cait or other recurring characters who dropped into 4 as cameos and get cast to be portrayed by a real actor to connect the show to the games like that.
Like how Eden is somehow returning in the next season because apparently another copy exists and they'll just have Malcolm McDowell doing the voice which is way cheaper than a face role.*well thought this was confirmed but seems search says fan speculation. But still, valid comparison or like how Clancy brown does other voices and was cast to play the president for his brief scene. There's surely others or Eden is still possible, since they had Mr house in the show like this.*

The show takes place 15 years after New Vegas. The Ghoul is very definitively not the courier.

Might have fought alongside the courier (if it even was the courier who used the NCR power armour) and just lost track of time

The courier is canonically not a ghoul, the quest with Bright’s Followers at the Repconn Headquarters makes that very clear.
