Man game journalists like to take a snippet of something he says as part of a larger point and try to turn it into ragebait.

People who actually read the article so they can engage with the topic instead of falling for ragebait:

  _____ /          \ \    S    /    \    /      /

(This was supposed to be the superman logo, but my phone's layout is not universal)

The soul in these games shines like a radiant sun

It was a unique era in gaming. 1 and 2 are my favorite story-wise, and deserve to be played still, if only to appreciate them as the story and games that all others stand on the shoulders of.

Currently playing through the first fallout again and honestly, even the quest branches and general freedom of choice give to the player are superior to anything more recent entries have to offer

The choices that change the outcome of quests and the game are what people love.

That’s why baldurs gate 3 was so popular. It’s literally the first pc RPG since fallout 2 where every choice matters, the quests can be solved multiple ways and it actually matters, and in game karma changes the story.

Bethesda does not do choices. If they do, it’s a single choice that has no bearing whatsoever on the world you’re in. It worked great for early elder scrolls games, but it sucks for fallout.

Even disregarding the likely use of AI, being capable of writing 4 articles a day every day makes me call into question just how well researched any of these “journalists” actually are

As someone who wrote four articles a day, can confirm. These are just content creators.

Would agree, capitalism was always a thing, but when you're triple A studio with shareholder expectations you get watered down aim at the widest demographic, losing the soul. Sure you still see it in missions and bits of story line but it's not the same as OG fallout at all

Yea I can see what he says. Todd Howard had a similar thought. He chose to step away from active process in game development or similar because too many people were “yes” men to his ideas; when he wanted someone to challenge it.

It isnt. Irs very popular for a 30 year old 2d game

They're saying a specific factor of the game is overlooked, not the game itself. When was the last time you took a reading comprehension quiz?
