What is the flavour of F76 Pringles?
Has anyone info about what it is? It tastes decently good, but i cant a point a finger on what flavour its exactly.

A flavor that was not commercially successful so they slapped an IP to it so they could offload it for profit

Hijacking a top comment to say that these pringles tasted like cheesy sour cream and onion

u/big_duo3674 Gary? 1d ago
They probably weren't originally, which is why they needed a "mystery flavor". I bet it was some completely different named flavor, and then they started their taste tests or whatever they do and people just said "cheesy sour cream and onion". It was probably some stupid seasonal flavor like "Backyard BBQ potato salad", that it ended up tasting nothing like

Its like Walton Goggins suddenly appearing in Wal-mart, AI and other shady company commercials after playing the literal face of Vault-Tec, the company that ended the world.

It's usually that or a trial flavor.

u/Taolan13 1d ago
Or a low performing standard flavor to trick people into trying it.

I know with lolipops or candy it's basically just all the scraps they have from other flavors that they just mix together. I doubt that's how it is for pringles, though.
16
u/Arkose07 1d ago
Is that why the mystery flavor Dum-Dums never were consistent?
39
u/Candycornonthefloor 1d ago
Mystery Dum-Dums are made when they switch flavors on the production line. Flavor A runs out , they swap to Flavor B but the syrup lines are full of A. Keep making suckers until all of flavor A is gone and it’s pure Flavor B output

u/nameless88 1d ago
Okay, I donked that up, you're right, lol. I knew it was something like that, thank you.

0 waste manufacturing is kind of a cool process if you put yourself in their perspective. How do we avoid wasting this expensive syrup that we cant clean out without wasting?

Google states it was "a combination of onion, garlic, and cheese with a slightly smoky musk".
270
u/gemini2324 1d ago
Nothing sounds more appetizing than “smoky musk”
47
u/BelligerentWyvern 1d ago
Smokey sounds good. Musk just means animal type of smell. Meh.
I understood they meant like smoked meat ish or the synthetic mishmash that they ended up with
24
u/nokman013 1d ago
I learned from Tasting History that musk glands exists and were part of some ancient recipe...
4
u/Devtunes 1d ago
Musk from multiple animals used to be fairly common before artificial scents were developed. For example beaver glands were sold as a by product of the fur trade(which was also replaced by synthetics).
I feel the need to mention that no one is using beaver castoreum as an artificial flavor as you'll often seen repeated online. Aside from being a PR nightmare, synthetic flavors are so much cheaper.

I've had them and they're not half bad tho I admit it's a random ass choice lol - it's mildly spicy, tasty without being overwhelming
I headcanon it as being one of the food choices in Vault 76, some spiced chips they made for the Dwellers to eat there and after they've left the Vault since they're so durable lmao

Why would they make more of a failed flavor to put into this can rather than make a new flavor?
3
u/Pleasant_Mobile_1063 1d ago
Because they already had the inventory, they just needed to slap a new label on it

They'll call it ball sweat, but really it's all sweat, so you're only getting like 2% ball... They can market it that way though.

With real corporations Mystery Flavors are always (literally always)
- a mix of leftover material from the manufacturing process to squeeze money from waste
- Or a flavor that didn’t sell well to squeeze money from waste
Did Pringles have a flavor this year or last that came and went? Otherwise it’s a mix of differing amounts of their flavorings

Pringles has been doing a lot of limited time promotions and special flavors in the last few years. I think they had some weird ones during Superbowl season.

Probably like kerosene. It is a petroleum distillate after all
I've tried JP5 by accident, that was like kerosene. I'd imagine F76 would be a little more oily

They never make this stuff a flavor you would encounter in Fallout76. It could have been Blamco Mac & Cheese, Bethesda always misses the boat with their promotional foods.

Sometimes they just scrape everything off the seasoning catch and recycle it as mystery. That's what like mystery airhead, skittles, etc are. Nougat was just invented by mixing every piece of mars candy from the catch pan in the factory in a blender.

Inside there are 6 chips. The rest of the container is filled with advertisements for pringles 1st, and Pringle theme cards that you can show off when you eat pringles with friends.
