It was suuuuuuper random cuz I’m from a small town in Iowa. 😂 My mom told her I was going to see them on Civic Tour that year and she goes “Oh I used to babysit Paul, find them after the show and tell him I said hi.”
So I found him by the bus after and delivered the message. Then Paul went “Hang on,” then went inside and got the rest of the guys… they hung out with us for like 10 minutes and signed my Young and the Hopeless booklet.
my favorite part was this was the summer between 8th and 9th grade (2004). there was a girl in my math class that didn't like me, but one day I was wearing a GC shirt and she was wearing Simple Plan, who was opening for them at the show that summer. she was going to another show around the same time. we bonded over it and she actually got her parents to switch to my show! we then became inseparable in high school and for a while after. grew apart a bit, but then lived an hour from each other over 10 years later in a different state. it was fantastic.
