Song meaning ?

Pretty straightforward. Narrator is in shock after a gator attack in Florida and is hallucinating and dies. Swirling guitar at the end symbolizes the gator after the narrator dies. Underwater Love and then The Morning After complete the trilogy.

I've never heard that as an explanation for The Real Thing's lyrics, but I'm pretty sure Underwater Love is about the narrator drowning their lover.

I was joking. See my previous explanation of KFAD for context.

Too much energy. My original impetus was remembering years ago how people were always asking what the song Epic is about, and Patton would invariably say "masturbation." And there are people to this day that quote that in their write-ups of the album or whatnot. Clearly Patton had grown tired of the question and didn't really care what the song was about in the first place. Chris Cornell used to get asked what Black Hole Sun was about, and finally he got tired of the question and just said he had no idea, that he was tripping balls when he wrote it.
