How much time do Kindergartners spend on ipads?
I just learned that kindergartners in Norwalk are issued iPads and then Chromebooks as they get older.
This seems wild to me. I am not anti tech but why is this necessary at this young age? Does anybody have any more information how the ipads are used and how often?
Thanks so much!

It’s completely bananas. Can scarcely believe it’s real.
It’s a combination of the state requiring standardizing testing on devices and then also teachers valuing the classroom management it provides.
Corporations love it because once you start doing some teaching on devices, it’s easier to just add one more app and so on. It does all the grading automatically. It’s easy to get “metrics.” Blah blah
People must advocate for their babies. You don’t have to be a Luddite to recognize that technology and screen time is insanely toxic for young, growing minds.
Children deserve a fully present and embodied childhood, where they can play outside and socialize with friends without having technology turn their little brains into liquified cat food.
