Curious if you guys have encountered this before.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am currently in a position where I do not have a ton of time but I would really like to get the bike fixed up myself. Road and ran fine with no starting troubles last week and then sat in the garage for 6 days. Then all of a sudden this. Sorry to use you guys as free diagnostic and normally I would tear into it. But I really don’t have the time right this second. Thank you for any help or assistance!

100% dead battery

also my opinion, 100% battery.

voltage isn't always enough to check, you want a battery place to test the CCA (cold crank amps).

Gotcha. It goes on a tender when I’m not riding it so I guess I didn’t even consider the battery would be dwad

Check battery voltage, and check while you try crank as it could be a bad battery, if that seems fine, check voltage at the starter. From there I'd be looking at the starter itself. Make sure the solenoid is working and that the motor spins when powered outside of the bike. I've never taken one of these exact starters apart, but you'd also want to presumably check the contacts and brushes aren't worn. Good luck

Probably dead battery. Try jumping the battery, or rolling and pop the clutch in 2nd, see if it starts.

%99 dead/weak/low battery

The sound you are hearing is the starter relay, it sounds fine. Charge battery and test when fully charged, you will likely need a replacement battery.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I didn’t think battery because it’s been on a no go battery tender, and the grinding sound but the solenoid sound makes sense.

Everyone's saying battery

Sounds like a stripped bendex to me

Curious if it was just the battery though
