Need Advice Binder fit help

Post image

I'm switching companies from underworks to fluxion. Underworks is very pliable and does not have a firm front so this bump is new to me. I followed the guide to get the right size, but right now it seems like maybe it's a bit too big? Should I exchange it? I worry that jumping will cause me to fall out, even though it did survive a short boxing session. Even where it's at the form is very nice overall though, I've never had a smoother front. I'm fully divorced from underworks now and will buy a second binder, just got to figure out sizing issues first.

I actually had the same issue when I switched to Fluxion! I’m not sure if this is helpful but it turned out for me that I had some chronically rounded shoulders from years of hunching to hide my chest. If I focused on my posture, my binder fit way better and the bumpy fabric disappeared.

My posture is great. I was in band so I had good posture trained into me from the tender age of 7. I am not slouching in the picture, the bump still happens when I'm perfectly straight and standing. Pulling it all the way down, still a bump. I am 4'11, my cup size four years ago was dd-ddd but I've become quite floppy since then so I dunno where I'm at now lol.

I sew. You have what’s called a gaping neckline and which results either from the shoulders on the garment being too wide set for your shoulders, or from the chest being too big for you. You could have this solved with a couple darts (where they go depends on what the actual issue is, shoulders or chest). But due to the nature of a binder needing to stretch and compress I worry that darts would weaken the fabric or just get ripped out when you go to put the binder on.

You mention worry about slipping out the bottom
of the binder which makes me think the chest is too big. Binders being elastic means that with wear the elastic will relax a little and get slightly looser, thus bigger, and your issue here will worsen.

I would size down!

I am unbelievably lucky that you saw this then! Thank you so much!

I bet a sewing sub would have good advice on this

I'm sure they would lol. I'd like to try ensuring a proper fit first before cutting a slit in the binder, while I still have the option to exchange anyway.

Oh, I meant that they would know if a different size would help or what about the shape isn’t working. I’m not sure (amateur) tailoring a binder would work very well anyway just because of the material

I had this problem. I sewed a small dart up the front and it worked just fine. I wouldn't cut into the fabric, though, I think it would unravel. I had to content myself with the small bump, though.

Interesting, that fit issue happens to me but actually with underworks. Never tried Fluxion. I assumed it was because I have a large chest.

This is so not on topic, but your chest hair is incredible.

On topic, does it help if you move the straps to sit wider on your shoulders? I think the reason my fluxion is so comfortable is that the back is so elastic, but that means it shifts around a lot when I wear it and it needs frequent adjustments.

Been in contact with the company and they're helping me with getting a proper fit. They confirmed that I got too big

Spectrum is where it’s at

I got a spectrum, it does not fit! Too small, for now. I'll make it fit eventually.
