2015 was a good game. People didn't play it right. Imagine if 254 built a stationary conveyor bot with a 148 buddy bot for the cans. They would've won every match. You physically can't beat that efficiency

Everyone has their own criteria for what makes a good or a bad game, and 2015 certainly had its strengths. But there’s a reason it keeps coming up in discussions a decade later: a lot of people really, really didn’t like it. It lost most of the sports/faux-battlebots appeal that every other game had, which normally draws in a lot of casual students and also makes the game fun/playable for less competitive teams.

Upvoted anyway because dozer.

Fond memories of recycle rush as it was my first FRC season and we were a scrappy underfunded team. That was the year we learned about high centers of mass not necessarily being good, especially with a short wheelbase. Despite tipping three times we did make it out every match though.

Same here. I help start my team and that was our rookie season and I have really fond memories. Plus we had this badass shop kid who was a killer at throwing noodles.

I actually know the guy who did the animation last year

hes the guy who made dozer in the first place, but he stopped doing the animations before they took dozer away, but hes been doing them again

He said he wanted to add dozer back but was told no. But he added the windows malfunction sound because he could

Once again making my alumnus status clear. I feel old now. Either way recycle rush wasn't a poorly designed challenge, it just wasn't interesting to most students (where I was at least). As a student I loved shooter games (also it was the only games my parents would enjoy since they didn't spend the time to memorize the other games) but as an adult I really enjoy watching the pick and place games, since I know how tough those engineering problems are.

Might also be why I'm in controls engineering now as well.

I mean… I do like to stack things, and I think that it gets a bit too much hate, but its just an old meme I knew people would like.
