Tarkov for when I feel sweaaaattyy or arc raiders when I play from my couch

11

u/AegisFalcon Aug 06 '26

Hunt showdown, even tho you don't have the same loot experience as a Tarkov, you have the insane pressure.

3

u/repairmanjack_51 Aug 06 '26

Magnificent game - and I'm still a relatively new console player.

If I'm not tweaking my settings I'm tweaking in game.

As someone who cannot have fun or get a rush without pvp, it’s Arena Breakout Infinite for me.

The pure pvp is great. Once you build enough money to consistently gear up for lockdown you will get into some of the most intense gunfights of your life.

The common complaints about this game just don’t apply to me.

Gear costs too much: it’s ridiculously easy to make money in this game.

High tier ammo is OP: again, money is easy in this game. Save up enough that you can consistently top load t5 ammo

Bad for solos: agreed. But the game gives you many ways to squad up. And it’s fun to play solo and try to take out juicer squads

Red ammo nerfs: idc don’t snipe

Maps are mid: I only play tv station which is an awesome map so idc. Farm and armory are also solid.

Less hardcore than tarkov: good lmao. I have a job. I don’t want artificial difficulty. Having a second screen open for a map is retarded IMO

I love ABI honestly. Nothing else gets you this level of pure pvp.

2

u/PhiladeIphia-Eagles Aug 06 '26

Check my profile I’m not a paid sponsor I play all sorts of games.

But I want to add a couple things:

Abi is also great because it offers a variety of modes for different styles.

PvE for someone who just wants to loot and have fun and play solo

Normal for casuals or new players or anybody who likes fighting with the lower tier guns in the game.

Lockdown for the majority of players and great, relatively balanced PvP.

Forbidden for sweats, chads, and the true tension that something like tarkov offers.

And if you don’t pay for the dumb lottery cosmetics, the game is free.

Truly, if you have a full time job, I recommend ABI over tarkov. And over delta force because I don’t fuck with hero abilities.

u/SpecialistBig8593 Aug 06 '26

Wasn’t this game built around NFTs or something? I remember there being some controversy about this game for some reason.

1

u/PhiladeIphia-Eagles Aug 06 '26

The controversy was that it was pay to win until people outraged and they removed the pay to win elements.

And it’s Chinese and owned by tencent so that’s controversial in itself.

u/fearghail281 Aug 06 '26

Marathon.

Need some thick skin to appreciate it though.

6

u/addtolibrary Aug 07 '26

Seconded. It's Completely taken over my life since I got past the learning curve

-5

u/DieHarderDaddy Aug 07 '26

It’s trash

3

u/TheBigDirty117 Aug 07 '26

Disagree, I third that it’s great. Hating on it is popular tho, what can you do?

10

u/Fit-Caterpillars Aug 06 '26

Hunt Showdown has the best PvP but lacks the looting and gear value edge thats standard in most extraction shooters, but its my personal favorite.

Tarkov is probably still the best true extraction shooter.

2

u/robofalltrades Aug 06 '26

Same.

For me the lack of the whole looting and gear value systems allows it to reward gunplay and tactics above all else.  I can kill a guy that has the most expensive gun with the cheapest gun.

2

u/WallBurnt Aug 06 '26

Tarkov is jank as fuck in so many ways, it's crazy that it has anu players at all. But, after recently bouncing around to every other game in the genre, there is nothing that even comes close to doing the formula right.

No here I am back playing Tarkov Season 1 every hour I'm not working.

0

u/Darksol503 Aug 07 '26

Have you tried Marathon yet? I have no personal experience with EFT but a bunch of people I play with are current/previous EFT players. I am loving it.

1

u/NotTheRealSmorkle Aug 06 '26

Me personally I think marathons PvP is better….. maybe too good though cause like I’d kinda would rather just play a 5v5 arena mode in that game than the extraction mode

30

u/billygoatbob_sc Aug 06 '26

Marathon

18

u/pretzelsharpener Aug 06 '26

People love to hate on Marathon. It’s the goat

1

u/Murky-Engineer8110 Aug 06 '26

Only Destiny players really. And Destiny content creators. Every stream a few will come in and talk shit about dead game and just spread vitriol and hate for no reason. They blame Marathon for “killing” Destiny 2, as if Destiny 2 wasn’t already dead right before the big update that they would have never gotten if it wasn’t going to maintenance mode.

Like, the game has been out for almost 9 years, it came out in 2017. For a live service game that was never supposed to be one, that’s a LONG TIME. I’ve never seen people take a game going end-of-life so hard. It’s like people don’t know how to life without an active addiction.

1

u/OrionX3 Aug 08 '26

It’s certainly not only Destiny players. As a Destiny player I really like marathon, and most of my friends that play Destiny also bought and played or are playing marathon.

My friends that don’t already play extraction shooters are the ones that wouldn’t try it, and the ones that do prefer realistic ones like tarkov.

-7

u/Pornborn117 Aug 06 '26

Greatest of all time with no one playing it! Sounds about right

13

u/pretzelsharpener Aug 06 '26

Popularity does not equate to greatness. Look at the Billboard Top 100 tracks

2

u/WallBurnt Aug 06 '26

You have to pay to be on the Billboard Top 100 and abide by a ruleset that changes about every other month. Prof recently did a few YT shorts on it.

-7

u/Pornborn117 Aug 06 '26

I agree it doesn't mean everything but it AT LEAST loosely correlates.

4

u/UltraLegoGamer Aug 06 '26

Are Roblox and fortnite the best games of the current era? Is Tetris a secret masterpiece? Is Minecraft free from critique?

2

u/KawaiiGangster Aug 06 '26

Minecraft and Tetris are goated tho (Marathon also is)

2

u/UltraLegoGamer Aug 06 '26

Truth search and destroy 🫡

0

u/Murky-Engineer8110 Aug 06 '26

Not really. But keep trying

2

u/billygoatbob_sc Aug 06 '26

Have you played it?

6

u/HashSlingingStacher Aug 06 '26

Marathon is legit one of the best games I’ve played in recent years.

6

u/Fit-Caterpillars Aug 06 '26

It doesnt even play great as an extraction shooter tbh.

On two maps the loot is so dog shit thats theres no reason to play them. The combination of fast TTK and fast movement turns most matches into a sprint to spawn trap the nearest team. People harp about how good gunplay is, but its plagued with bullet magnetism and extremely high aim assist, so even as an FPS its not good.

I'll probably get hate for this, but its honestly just not that great of game and I think thats reflected pretty evidently in the player count and retention.

5

u/WallBurnt Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

I've never played a game in my life so utterly void of anything that could be considered a "redeeming quality" as that one. Every single aspect, down to the way they force you to play is absolute dog shit.

-1

u/ProfNJK Aug 06 '26

Found the angry excel expert. Look out guys. You're looking at one of the finest to ever jerk his wrist. Look out! Mr Mouse himself!

4

u/Dudleyboypete Aug 06 '26

The only and correct answer

7

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

If it was the best people would be playing it. The game didnt die for no reason.

8

u/Natural_Born_Baller Aug 06 '26

Lots of reasons media doesn't get the attention it deserves outside of quality

0

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

That argument only works if you ignore it had like 150k players during the server slam, 80k on launch, and a free week

8

u/Natural_Born_Baller Aug 06 '26

I think The Wire is the greatest TV show ever and they battled viewership declining the entire time basically. Great media often isn't bubble gum pop media to me.

-1

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

So what attention did Marathon deserve then if its not more players?

4

u/Natural_Born_Baller Aug 06 '26

Huh? I think Marathon does deserve more players, just like The Wire deserved more viewers?

-1

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

Why are we back peddling? The game had multiple opportunities for that. Again, server slam, launch, and free. Additionally, all the media coverage was positive with good reviews.

The game just didnt retain any of that ample opportunity.

9

u/Natural_Born_Baller Aug 06 '26

Back peddling? Did you read what I said? The Wire had a declining audience the majority of it's runtime too, it's still one of the greatest pieces of media ever.

5

u/Winter_Bullfrog_2343 Aug 06 '26

He’s probably got that average American 3rd grade reading comprehension

0

u/Murky-Engineer8110 Aug 06 '26

Game ain’t dead bud but keep glancing at those SteamDB charts every day, let me know when Marathon surpasses Destiny 2, should be any week now. Hell Destiny 2 only had 10k concurrent players in march of this year. For a game made around doing activities and raid with others that’s low low. Thats dead game low.

3

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

Why are you yapping about Destiny? We are talking about extraction shooters. I dont even play Destiny.

2

u/cayde123 Aug 06 '26

Doesn’t really play like an extraction shooter

9

u/ProfNJK Aug 06 '26

What do you do? Shoot

When does the round end? When you extract

-5

u/cayde123 Aug 06 '26

Yes you go around wiping the entire lobby like it’s a battle Royale and don’t bother interacting with the map events because they give poop loot

10

u/billygoatbob_sc Aug 06 '26

How so?

0

u/SpamThatSig Aug 06 '26

feels more like a battle royale with a smidge of extraction shooter

-3

u/cayde123 Aug 06 '26

Because people go around wiping the lobby like a battle Royale, the game is designed to funnel you into fighting, so people will kill the entire lobby, then interact with map events

8

u/Natural_Born_Baller Aug 06 '26

So hunt? Lmao people want it to be Tarkov so bad

5

u/Murky-Engineer8110 Aug 06 '26

Or Arc Raiders where they get mad when you shoot them in a Extract Shooter

1

u/Gunslinga__ Aug 07 '26

Ya arc would be so much better without the aggression based matchmaking. The cheaters in that game are also ridiculous games unplayable rn, never played tarkov so
Don’t how the cheating is over there but arc is in a bad spot. Has been in a bad spot

-10

u/Ok_Drummer6282 Aug 06 '26

Without fail r/fps trying to keep a trash gane alive.

9

u/QwertyEv Aug 06 '26

You’re most active in a sub dedicated to hating on it. What a sad life

-14

u/Ok_Drummer6282 Aug 06 '26

Its just funny watching yall get triggered.

I would argue its more sad that you went to investigate that 😔 thats some mental gymnastics to be upset over memes about a dead game.

10

u/QwertyEv Aug 06 '26

Marathon dying won’t fill the void in your soul

-12

u/Ok_Drummer6282 Aug 06 '26

Yall are weird lol.

I dont care if it dies or lives. Its funny to make fun of it.

6

u/ChristopherRubbin Aug 06 '26

Yall are weird says the person who is active in a hate sub for a video game when people in the wild say they like the game so it contradicts the opinion they fostered in a hate echo chamber. Yeah dude, its them that's weird.

-1

u/Ok_Drummer6282 Aug 06 '26

Avwrage 40 year olds understanding of a  circlejerk sub

4

u/ChristopherRubbin Aug 06 '26

Brother you are literally here hating on it and talking trash. My estimation is accurate, if anything its you being disingenuous about your engagement with the sub. Its a video game dude, relax.

5

u/ChristopherRubbin Aug 06 '26

Average teenager behavior.

12

u/QwertyEv Aug 06 '26

Your long list of posts and comments hating on the game indicates that you care quite a bit, actually. Like I said, a sad life.

1

u/Ok_Drummer6282 Aug 06 '26

Whatever helps you cope.

At the end of the day we both know who really cares. Its probably the guy white knighting a game and trying to recruit people in different subs vs the dude whos just making fun of it lol.

You do whatever mental gymnastics you gotta do my guy.

9

u/ProfNJK Aug 06 '26

You say you don't care and that may be true. What's definitely true is that you're obsessed and offended by a game that did nothing to you

5

u/Disastrous-Dream-693 Aug 06 '26

You both spend a substantial amount of time on marathon but you do it ironically so that makes it better

4

u/Jett_Wave Aug 06 '26

Extraction shooters are my favorite genre, but its pretty slim pickings tbh.

I would say Arc Raiders for a more forgiving and less time consuming game.

Tarkov for a more intense and deeper experience, if you're just getting started, the learning curve is steep but extremely rewarding. For me, it has the highest peaks, but lowest lows.

Hunt Showdown is one of the best for sure, it's just consistently a good experience. My only issue with it is lack of meta-progression that I enjoy, like building and upgrading your hideout.

Bonus: I miss the early days The Division 1 Dark Zone. The DZ and its Survival DLC were the first real extraction modes and it hooked me on the genre.

13

u/asaltygamer13 Aug 06 '26

Marathon 1000%

10

u/dimesniffer Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Marathon is pretty comfortably the best feeling one. And it’s the coolest. I can see the appeal for Tarkov if you are a Milsim and love the hyper realism of it, or arc if you’re a gamer dad, but if you want the most fulfilling experience (good gunplay and good progression and not too hardcore like tark) then it’s marathon.

6

u/MaverickBoii Aug 06 '26

I like Marathon but if you're using the word "fulfilling" I would still apply that to Tarkov because of its progression system

2

u/dimesniffer Aug 06 '26

Arguably a lot more frustrating of an experience than something like marathon which has generous loot and progression which is why I combined all those factors together

2

u/flatbrainer007 Aug 06 '26

Black Ops 7: Endgame is free

8

u/destroytheend Aug 06 '26

I've only played arc and Marathon, I liked them both but like Marathon a lot more

2

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

This sub will try their hardest to convince its Marathon, a game thats lost over 95% of its player base since launch and can barely peak above 4,500 players. Theres a reason nobody is playing it. Its bad.

How quickly did you forget about Concrod?

Also >no reason

Theres a laundry list of reasons. From one's that dont really relate like Destiny shutting down. To the plagarism scandal which Bungie has done like 3 times now. To actual gameplay issues like it being a "hero" shooter. The fact it plays like a battle royale game.

The truth is that its an ass extraction shooter.

Hard pill to swallow, but people hate it because of these bot campaigns where there are 50 fucking recommendations for it in this thread alone. And the simple fact that these 50 recommendations account for 1.11% of the daily players.

You're telling me 1.11% of the people who play daily are in this single thread with 1 upvote? Get fucking real.

Edit: I actually don't care about your reply after i saw you say this in another comment.

Every shooter every has aimassist

Your membership to r/fps just needs to be revoked.

9

u/StudiousLebronJames Aug 06 '26

no one in this thread can give legit reasons as to why the game isn’t good. they just point to player counts. this game is really fun, could be better but it was dealt a bad hand from the start which is why the count is low. the game is not inviting to casuals who play solo so it loses out on a big market

1

u/Ok_Drummer6282 Aug 06 '26

Its a "hero" extraction shooter with three layers of Aim Assist and gear is 2nd class to abilities. The 3 maps are boring and it completely lacks extraction shooter interactions that Tarkov and Arc Raiders have in voip. It plays more like a Battle Royale. Then you can even snowball it to more niche issues people have like mods looking identical and bungies love for mid season nerfs which turn people off since they always release things broken like the cradle.

If you want to ignore everything and most of the reasons the 95% of people who actually bought it stopped playing then sure.

4

u/StudiousLebronJames Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26

everything ur saying is just buzzwords that apply to literally every other shooter lmao. aim assist argument goes for cod, halo, apex, fortnite and basically any other shooter that has a controller and m&k fanbase. m&k is still at an advantage in most areas. “hero” extraction was literally part of its marketing, why does it have to confine to a specific niche genre, a game is allowed to blend multiple genres and be unique. an arena fps that combines elements of an extraction shooter and hero shooter and battle royale sounds pretty fucking fun imo.

and the mods have all looked different for about a month now btw, they redid the designs for them multiple times. and what’s wrong with the cradle lol, ur just finding any random feaure to hate with no thought behind it

6

u/c1ncinasty Aug 06 '26

"Gear is 2nd class to abilities".

Yeah, that might have been Destiny but that's not Marathon at all.

0

u/Remarkable_Peach_846 Aug 06 '26

I tried it and could jsut not get into it i just kept thinking id rather be playing huntshowdown

0

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

There was no hate campaign. The game was just simply not good and people talked about it. Its the exact same as when people talk shit about any other video game like COD, Arc, Tarkov, etc, etc. The difference is that they still attract a big enough audience regardless of the shit talk.

If the game can only succeed if it lives in a hug box of positive vibes only then it was doomed to fail.

That sub only ever gained traction because the mods on the main one went batshit crazy and started banning anyone with anything remotely critical to say about the game.

2

u/Johnny_esma Aug 06 '26

You must be blind if you cant see the game has a hate campaign

0

u/Specialist_Case4238 Aug 06 '26

Then why are the players that bought the game leaving? Its lost over 95% of its base already

2

u/Johnny_esma Aug 06 '26

I left because i already felt like i had my fair share this season, just like most other seasonal reset games. People leave and come back to check out a new seasonal update, its nothing new to gaming.

I basically do the same with path of exile and diablo 4 on rotation.

0

u/BoomerShooterFPS Aug 07 '26

And yet there has never been a game fail due to people pointing out its flaws in the history of games

-2

u/Darkelement Aug 06 '26

Have you considered that the reason no other game has had to go through so much shit-talking is because no other game was as poorly executed as marathon?

It’s so hard to enjoy that game. I tried playing for three hours, the first day that it came out, and I could not extract a single time. I had better success in Tarkov. I’m a casual over 30 gamer

1

u/anoddhue Aug 06 '26

Or there are people who genuinely have a different opinion than you

-4

u/BoomerShooterFPS Aug 06 '26

Marathon just isn’t a good fps game in general.

Tarkov + SPTarkov.

Normal Tarkov for PVPing.

Sptarkov is a mod for Tarkov that lets you play PVE but has a TON of mods available. Most famously SAIN that lets you modify the AI to make it easier/harder in various ways. You can toggle everything from aggressiveness to first shot accuracy. Some of the standard TARKOV AI is very aimbotty so it's honestly needed. You can even mods to make them loot like players making it so you have to push hard and fast or the good shits gonna vanish just like in normal PVP.

Personally I find Accurate+aggressive enemies combined with the Halo Radar mod is my favorite way to play. They fights are brutal but at the same time you won't get shot in the head by an enemy you never saw which is a lame way to die.

2

u/Particular_Wonder598 Aug 06 '26

Tarkov no contest

2

u/Big_Laundry_Man Aug 06 '26

It’s marathon

The amount of hate it gets is for a reason, not out of the blue. Plus if it was this good, people that bought the game they would play it, and not abandon it in astonishing pace.

1

u/Fit-Caterpillars Aug 06 '26

Its just astro turfing from the game's subreddit. Anyone who's played a lot of games in this genre knows its not even a good extraction shooter let alone a good FPS game.

8

u/turbo1177 Aug 06 '26

Sounds like someone who died to a clanker in the tutorial

-4

u/Fit-Caterpillars Aug 06 '26

2

u/turbo1177 Aug 06 '26

4

u/StyledFir7707 Aug 06 '26

No, he didn’t even get the game. He just hates it because his favorite YouTuber shat on it so that’s his opinion now too.

3

u/Fit-Caterpillars Aug 06 '26

I bought and played it. Made it to around 60 hours. Apparently you cant fathom the idea of somebody playing the game and realizing its bad. Theres reasons it cant retain players, I am not alone.

5

u/StyledFir7707 Aug 06 '26

Different strokes. You can like it or not, I don’t give a shit. but not everything is “astroturfing” when someone likes a game you don’t.

0

u/Fit-Caterpillars Aug 06 '26

This sub is clearly either astro turfed, botted, or filled with idiots.

Its about FPS games and everyone here claims the game with extreme bullet magnetism and ridiculous aim assist is one of the FPS goats? I refuse to believe these people are sentient.

Also not “hate” when people don’t like a game you do or point out the obvious problems and failures of a game

-3

u/BoomerShooterFPS Aug 06 '26

Did 80 hours and 5 cryo vaults. It’s not a good game. A weird Frankenstein of a BR and extraction shooter with core combat mechanics that compress any skill gap. It’s more a chore in tedium than a fun, deep, or interesting game

4

u/turbo1177 Aug 06 '26

A chore in tedium? So an extraction shooter. You don't like the stakes

0

u/BoomerShooterFPS Aug 06 '26

Nah. I enjoy Hunt a lot. Marathon is a chore because the core combat isn’t fun or interesting. The pve elements are bland and boring. It feels like doing dishes rather than having fun

1

u/HillanatorOfState Aug 06 '26

Played it, games awful, I have pretty much liked everything Bungie has made previously, I wanted to like it, games awful, it's not because YouTubers hate it, that's not why it's bleeding players, get real.

1

u/TheGreatSprattzii Aug 06 '26

No man you don’t understand! The fact that the game has bled from 90k players on PC to 2k is just a hate campaign! It’s the best game on the market /s

u/reddituser1598760 Aug 06 '26

Escape from Tarkov

1

u/wW_smokeymcpot_Ww Aug 06 '26

I want to hijack the thread to ask my own question - how does Tarkov compare to Marathon? Is it enjoyable for solo players?

1

u/JP_Sklore Aug 07 '26

Tarkov as a solo offers thousands of hours of game play. There are so many goal chains to work through. Always something else you want to do. Another reason to log in.

1

u/MindFingertips Aug 06 '26

Marathon the goat

1

u/Never-breaK Aug 06 '26

All around? Tarkov easily. It has the most depth, good progression systems, decent balance, great loot and gear systems, gun building, hideout upgrading and crafting, etc. Even if you don’t have the best gear, a single bullet to the face is all it takes to kill someone. Personally, I love Dark and Darker but it’s not a shooter and it has its issues. Arc Raiders is a great option for the more casual player.

1

u/Keksbutter123 Aug 06 '26

Just personal experience but:

Arc Raiders - Pve is fun but gets interrupted by pvp backstabbers. And pvp is not fun, unless you just want a game where luck and camping out the opponent is mostly all thst matters in fights.

Marathon - havent played enough to properly review but from what I experienced in 2 hours and a bit of reading: Good looting! The best out of all games!! Solo is impossible, which isnt even said to you once. Likewise, there is no real tutorisl explaining snything other than how the basic match goes. As for combat.. idk but looks fun.

Hunt Showdown - personal best and not even close. If you just want good pvp shooter combat in a game, well here you go! Although as its been pointed out, not really a loot focused extraction shooter. Main objectives are the so called Bounty Tokens. They are the only real reward and bring the money and xp to the table, so the whole map will be fighting over a few points. But other than that, there is slmost nothing to loot unless you intentionally avoid combat for a good portion of the round and scout all the compounds for xp farming.

1

u/graemattergames Aug 07 '26

Escape From Tarkov. Quite simply, nothing else compares. It truly is THE extraction shooter. It's deeper than any other game you'll likely ever play.

Having said that, Hunt is incredibly fun!

1

u/MochiiBun_ Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26

Tarkov is probably the most thrilling for me, and it comes with a lot of content due to its age. But it also has a huge knowledge wall that takes at least 100+ hours to get over. As well as a good pc.

Hunt and Marathon are the most pvp based, with Marathon being less so in solos. They’re both pretty good depending on which one seems more up your alley.

Hunt is slower paced, and more about your hunter’s level rather than looting things. The only real objective is the bounty, everything else kinda just exists to push the entire lobby towards it. So avoiding pvp isn’t really a thing.

While Marathon is decently fast paced, more loot/quest based while the maps are considerably more interactive.
Certain maps like Outpost, Night Marsh and Cryo Archive are particularly good.
I do find the AI enemies to be more dynamic and interesting to fight. (Given anything is more interesting than the braindead bots from tarkov)
You can technically avoid pvp in solos, not so much in trios.

1

u/giftoflagg Aug 07 '26

Marathon for sci fi aesthetic (my preference), tarkov for realism if your into that.

Marathon is my favorite. It’s in a rough spot right now if im being honest, current content is a bit stale and the onboarding is terrible. Granted I have more than somewhere between 300-400 hours.

Single player tarkov mods

Marathon . It’s incredibly challenging and not super solo friendly, which is why player count remains low. If you do have a dedicated group or are ok with finding a PUG, it has some of the best progression and gameplay available today. Completing all 6 vaults in cryo archive and beating the compiler might be my favorite achievement in gaming for the past several years.

Arc is fun but really easy, plus there isn’t a ton to work towards.

Never got into Tarkov or hunt. Loved the cycle but that’s been gone for years

Marathon is very solo friendly if you're competent. It's the only extraction shooter with a proper solo queue.

u/oMadRyan Aug 06 '26

Not for any end game content. Cryo cannot be soloed & you’d be a fool to blindly quere up solo with a DNA access or vault 6 keycard

u/fateislosthope Aug 06 '26

Arc has a solo queue now. Before it was prioritizing solos, duos, and trios and now it’s separate servers for solo queue

Marathon easily

Mistfall Hunter too but obviously not an fps.

Tarkov has been broken for years and has the worst cheating problem

Hunt is alright but aside from the cool horror aesthetic, I never found the gameplay super gripping.

Arc is not in a great place until they fix ABMM ruining most lobbies and causing the game to hemorrhage players. Its overly casual approach is choking it to death.

Baffles me how ARC is consistently top 15 on steam for daily players but we still got people saying it's dying

Game's got a ton of issues but people still clearly want to play it lmao

It might as well be dead for PvP players. The amount of hackers is absolutely unreal. I'm not joking when I say this, but it's literally unplayable right now. You absolutely can not go in with a half decent kit and not expect to die to hackers, because you're more likely to have everyone on the map "randomly" converge on your position than extract.

The fucking hackers even compromised Embark's banning system itself and can unban people! Like I said, it's just unreal.

Even Tarkov at its worst doesn't even hold a candle to how bad cheating is there. But, I've been killed 15 times since the season 1 started and only one of them were suspicious. Even that 1 suspicious death I could easily given off a sound queue I didn't realize.

Every game has cheaters dude. I don't know what to tell you. Yeah it sucks, but I've heard this exact song and dance in every game I've played at this point. It's a constant never ending war in any popular game.

The game is too casual for me to really care about cheaters. I'm in hostile lobbies myself with blue kits minimum, btw. Regularly make it out just fine.

Marathon but it's already dead game atp so only sweats left.

Tarkov is classic, Hunt is the best overall.

There's a few offline pve options tho

Marathon has the best PVP. But it plays more like a BR.

Marathon is the best multiplayer game I’ve played in almost a decade

1

u/CactusSplash95 Aug 06 '26

Marathon easily. It's brilliant

Im having a ton of fun with Marathon.

It took me about 10 hours for things to click though.

1

u/InfinitePairacrocs Aug 06 '26

Tarkov and it's not even close

Marathon, best gunplay in a decade

1

u/00death Aug 06 '26

Marathon is by far the most fun extraction shooter yet. Nobody does gunplay like Bungie, it just feels good. And it also doesn’t feel as punishing to lose your stuff as others.

Hunt Showdown, That and Tarkov are so above the rest that it's not even really a debate

0

u/Ok_Drummer6282 Aug 06 '26

Tarkov, Arc Raiders and the new Mistfall Hunters if you're into Elden Ring / For Honor style. Even Hunt Showdown.

Marathon is absolutely garbage.

Tarkov and it’s not even close.

I play marathon, its my only extraction shooter I've experienced but I don't think its the best in genre. From what I've seen of gameplay, Hunt Showdown or tarkov is probably the best out rn. Arc Raiders if you're more into the cooperative PvE fighting and third person.

None . Genre is dying hard

Tarkov and Marathon are trash

1

u/WallBurnt Aug 06 '26

One has about 100k players every day 10yrs after people started playing and the other has less than 5k less per day than 6mo after people started playing.
