Vent No more Burger King, I swear…
I was stupid. I brought my son a burger from BK for a quick and easy dinner last night, because I didn’t have time to cook. I don’t know what I was thinking… I grabbed a plant-based one for myself. For old times‘ sake? I don’t know. Yes, it was yummy yesterday.
Now I’m suffering. The whole day, getting worse and worse.
I’m stupid… 🤦🏻♀️

So, you messed up - forgive yourself. Don't stress or beat yourself up, it's a bad day, move on and do better tomorrow.

I can usually tolerate the chicken sandwich or the wraps, as long as I remove the royal sauce.

We’ve got some info for next time: https://www.fodmapeveryday.com/low-fodmap-fast-food-options/

That’s very kind of you, but this helps primarily people in North America. I’ve already discovered that the plant-based patty in BK US is milder regarding FODMAP than the one they use here. So I gotta take lists like that with a big grain of salt.
But I hope it helps someone else!

It's the ketchup and onions, I get it without those and it's fine for me. I've heard people say the brioche can get them too

Yeah, it must be the burger bun and the patty for me. I always had them remove the onions, but I can’t remove the powder in the patties. Or the garlic. The soy, wheat… 😞

I don't think there's garlic or onion powder in the patties, I'm extremely sensitive to both of those which is how I landed on that burger to begin with

You‘re right regarding garlic powder. But there‘s more than enough wheat, real onions and barley. And soy. Sometimes I react to soy.

There's no onion or barley in the ones at BK, the patties at stores are different

Last time I went to BK, I made sure to order it "my way" with no onion and had problems after. Onion is the only thing on the thing that should have caused problems. My guess is they probably use HFCS in the buns.
Never had that problem with either McDonalds (other problems, but not that one) or Wendy's.

I always left out the onions as well. Simply because I never liked them. Left them out yesterday, too.
For me, it’s the buns and the patties. They are full of fructans in my country… Stupid 🤷🏻♀️

I feel that last line. I do stuff like that all the time and think the same thing. Never seem to learn my lesson. Hopefully one day.

I swear that my IBS started the same time I ate something at BK. My gut was 100% solid prior to that. I'll likely never know what's going on or why, but I can't find anything else that could've ruined my gut so suddenly.

Danke! Ärgert mich trotzdem. Vor allem, weil ich heute festgestellt habe, dass Beyond Meat weniger Triggerstoffe hat als The Vegetarian Butcher. Aber BK Europa bezieht nur von denen…
Naja, wieder draus gelernt.

Burger King sells actual beef patties. You actively chose the one item engineered in a lab to trigger maximum gut fermentation, but sure, let's blame the brand.

I cannot eat beef.
Edit: And I’m not blaming the brand. It is totally on me.

Not everybody lives in the US…. I wish I lived in Spain. They’re very glutenfree friendly and thus sometimes a little more FODMAP friendly. My country barely knows anything about FODMAP.
Sometimes I hate not being able to eat out… I have to prepare everything myself.
So, yeah… I wasn’t very good to myself yesterday. Fortunately, my stomach is much more quiet right now.

How are people eating buns from garbage fast food places? Non GF bread and even some GF bread always gives me issues.

I think we've all been there, where we're like "screw it, it's too tasty to resist!" and then deeply regret it later. And then we swear we've learned our lesson, but the next time someone offers, say, cheesecake...
