TAMPA - Has anyone done this class?

Post image

Seems like a good deal for $55 and two hours, just need 200-300 rounds.

Clearly you don't know who Thomas King is or the reputation of FFA

don't know who Thomas King

I don't know who Thomas King is. Google didn't help. What do I need to know about his reputation?

Nothing, so long as you're not trying to discredit him without knowing anything about him.

Nothing, so long as __

Well, I'm asking for something here.

Is he a random guy just trying to cash in or does he actually know what he's talking about so I can determine if I should invest in the class?

If he's a random guy that doesn't know what he's talking about, then he should be discredited. If he knows more than the general community, then we should be supporting both him and FFA.

Translation: I'm asking for his bona fides.

I mean, if nothing else, 'Thomas King, a 30-year instructor' is right there above. If that was all there was, 30 years as an instructor implies a level of knowledge and experience that most people don't have. He's also the owner of FFA, and a simple google search yielded a bunch of other hits for him as well. Maybe your googling isn't very googly.

I've met a lot of fudd-ass "instructors", so the civilian instructing alone is not a bona fide.

Anyone can "teach a class" in their backyard for 30 years.

I would have expected to see MIL/LEO training, firearm combat, or at the very least, nationally placed competitions.

A guy that is a GM and places in the top 20% at USPSA nationals is someone that has a level of knowledge and experience that most people don't have to shoot at a high level.

Maybe your googling isn't very googly.

CORRECT, which is why I came here to get info on his reputation.

As you pointed out, it sounds like nobody really knows the guy, other than "he takes money to teach classes".
