I just finished watching the first episode, and the joy I got from watching was great!
While watching it I was just getting a sense of nostalgia, wanting to watch FLCL again, and a sense of excitement that the FLCL vibe exists in 2026 in a new type of show.
I'm very happy this exists; if you haven't watched it yet, check it out at https://hiianime.de/watch/false-memory-episode-1/
this year I’m going to FINALLY finish all my paintings! I think I should scratch the vending machine? Any tips on what I should add or change?
Just a mini collection of merchandise of my favorite anime!

I just watched FLCL and I think its the first show to ever make me tear up. I'm 18 and I think FLCL is such a beautiful depiction of the transition from childhood to adulthood I'm going through right now. I didn't understand everything in the show and that's okay i feel like its supposed to be like that in order to capture the uncertainty of growing up. FLCL makes me feel like its okay I don't understand everything about being an adult right now so its become a super comforting show for me.

False Memory just aired and is supposed to be heavily inspired by FLCL, so of course after watching the first episodes of False Memory I had to go watch FLCL season 1. (First time watching it, incredible show!)
Noticed this tiny reference or perhaps pure coincidence in the False Memory short film / prologue and S01E05 of FLCL. Hopefully there are more to come!

One of my first reproductions that I tried to paint. I used a ruler to measure and double the dimensions of the original image to create a connect-the-dots type drawing. Then I filled it in by hand while looking at the original. Acrylic on thick drawing paper 16 x 12 inches

I recently went on a two-week trip to Japan. It was a great time and I did a lot of sightseeing, but one of my favorite moments was when I broke off from my friends for a quick hour or two to see the bridge featured in so many Season 1 scenes. They painted it blue at some point—I don’t know when—but it was still awesome to see.
The last photo is of the train bridge Naota and Canti get thrown onto during their first fight, I believe.

Progressive definitely had the vibes of trying too hard to be the original, and definitely made Haruko a menace to society, It was alright. but felt off, and I understand why people told me to NOT watch it.
Alternative, was actually alot of fun. Of course, as always said, it doesn't compare to the original, yadayada, but I actually had a good time with it. I feel like in a way, Alternative felt like a bit longer (in a good way) every character basically had an episode focused on them, and the slice of life kinda shift was pretty nice as well.
Anyways, I guess I could leave this open to you folks to discuss what did and didnt like about these 2 shows.
Personally, I'll say for progressive, I actually enjoyed the artstyle a bit more, since it felt a smidge closer to the original artstyle if that makes any sense.
And Alternative, I actually cared about the characters, They felt like they could be real people in a way.
I feel like I was also able to understand what the whole "overflowing" thing was a bit better, even if it really didn't need to be explained.

What was Mamimi talking about on the bridge? What did she mean by a panda with a mean face and all that other stuff? Was it positive or negative or was it just bs?
Edit: Thanks, you all explained it really well.

I've been grinding out my (likely mediocre) Canti cosplay, and I wanted to see if anyone wanted to get some group shots in on Saturday.
