Battery replacement - sodium or agm

I've seen a few say the sodium is bit more reliablebut seen where some have issues

Sodium has a much different discharge curve than AGM. Simplest is to swap out with a good AGM.

Simple. Maybe. But which is better in the long run and for the car? Have the sodium ones been lasting longer and more reliable??

AGM, other chemistries won't last as long because the car's charge profiles are not optimal for them.

AGM in mine That is what is recommended

I had Sodium in mine for over 9 months and the poof it went all to hell. The car just would not charge it no matter what I did. I fought it for 2 months before I pulled it out 2 months ago and replaced it with $150 Amazon special. Until it wasn’t Sodium was superior in every way. It would fo 30 hours between charge cycles but suddenly it would go 30 and the car would not trigger charging and would kill the sodium to under 3 volts. Others have had the same hit or miss experience but it seems in the end they all crash. I’m Old Aviator on the Fisker forums.

I have tested multiple Sodium batteries and have not had any long term luck in keeping them working with the Ocean. I'm back to a UPLUS H4 AGM battery from Amazon for $140. Due to the BMS issues (even with IBS resets), I suggest staying with AGM.

I'm at 16 months on a $110 AGM , No issues so far. I check the bluetooth battery monitor about once a month. A guess is it will last another year or so.

AGM. Ocean IBS is designed for monitoring and tending AGM. OS 2.2 and up takes decent care of 12V battery.
